I went ahead and bought a new control head and cable. Might not be completely original, but Should be easier to get it going again.Putting together an 8274 in order to sell. A 1977 based on the date code and metal socket (thanks @rubclt )

That’s what I did on the 1981 that’s on my 83I went ahead and bought a new control head and cable. Might not be completely original, but Should be easier to get it going again.
Funny thing about this winch I have. My FIL had a waterwell pulling truck made in '74 or '75 on a F250 and this was the winch that ran the pulling line. When he broke down and bought a real pulling truck he had the 250 put back together as a pickup and I got the winch. This was in 80 or 81. I had my first CJ-7 by then, but never got to cleaning it up to put on it. So 40 years later I am going to get it done and have it on the '83.That’s what I did on the 1981 that’s on my 83
@83CJ-8 Is that a TrailQuest fuel tank? (23 gal) It looks like the one I have. I too am frustrated with the fuel gage not working well.I had fuel leaking from the OEM sending unit not sealing properly and I got tired of the fuel gauge not working correctly, So I added 3 threaded studs at that location and went with a gas-resistant sealant and cork gasket. I also cut in an aftermarket JAZ fuel cell sending unit.
Not quite on the workbench, but picked up some tube fenders. Need to fab up some inner fenders and then get to installing them.View attachment 108617
Are those side/ rocker guards Warrior Rock Barz or home made? Look kinda like some I had Scott Anderson make me about 20 years ago
Yes, a 23gal TrailQuest stainless steal. I'm getting all the correct Ohms to the front and the factory gauge seems to work better than the aftermarket Auto Meter gauge I installed. I pumped in 21gal and it took it past the full mark. Once it gets down to E I'll fill it up and see how well it works.@83CJ-8 Is that a TrailQuest fuel tank? (23 gal)
Let us know how that works out! My tank is 13" high.
Wish my Trailquest tank was the stainless version. Anybody have any idea when the closed up shop?Yes, a 23gal TrailQuest stainless steal. I think they closed a long time ago. I bought my tank in 1998. Mine is the steel version with the extra skid plate welded on.Wish my Trailquest tank was the stainless version. Anybody have any idea when the closed up shop?
