technically, a receiver hitch is not rated for "recovery". If you're tugging to extract someone, odds are you are exceeding the rated capacity of the hitch pin / receiver. I know we all do it, just be aware.
Thats a very good point.
When I was looking at rear bumpers that had the D rings incorporated in bumper, I was suspicious of how well they would perform.

I'm not an engineer, I did notice the rear attaching point of Jeep frame along with thickness of metal raised my eyebrows. The hitch I installed has arms that extend to frame of Jeep and is rated to 5000 lbs.
There are many portable winch cradles that are designed to be inserted into 2" receivers for sale. Maybe a winch pull is less stress on receiver than a strap pull?
Amazon has what I was basically looking for, just didn't know how word the search.
I will post photo and specs. When I receive. Thanks for all of the input on products and safety issues.

If it's rated at 5000 lbs, that's the rating. You put a winch rated at 8000 lbs you're exceeding the capacity. Yes, you may not be using the winch to capacity, but do you know what your winch is pulling at any time, most likely not.

Now all that being said, 5000 lbs rating... there obviously is a safety factor. We all have pulled WAAAAAY more than that...

And that brings up your other point... The frame is pretty thin. Factory welds are questionable at best...

Everything being said, use personal judgment. And for the record, a lot of those hitch tow hooks are Chinesium, trust at your own risk! :ROFLMAO:

A lot of this comes down to how the bumper and hitch are attached to the frame. The thickness of the rear frame crossmember and the bolts used can all be weak points. Sometimes they can seem substantial until you take a good, close look.

Well I got the combination hitch today. Seems to be well built.
I did not realize the D-ring was going to swivel 360 degrees. I thought that it would be welded solid to hitch. That concerns me.

I have a good solid front bumper with winch to be serious with recovering vehicles. I just wanted to have a system available should I get stuck and need to be pulled from my rear easily. I believe this will work.

I would NOT use that as a winch or recovery point. The part where the pin secures it to the hitch is thin sheet metal. Not a solid chunk of metal. Very high probability of failure if loaded too high.

Ya was thinking the same thing....

I have a Key parts complete floor replacement panel for my Jeep.
Replacing rocker panel on drivers side also. Ordered rocker panel from Classinc.

Question 48:
should I leave new rocker panel off, so I can slide new floor in place without resistance from one side?

Question 49:
Friend of a friend of a friend is getting rid of their Jeepster accumulation, parts.

Do any major body parts, seats etc of a Jeepster same as CJ8?

I think they just want to get rid of them or sell cheap.
Doors and seats windshield frame are one part I'm interested in knowing if they are same.
