Is my jeep a rare scrambler ?

Hello everyone,
I'm a new member based near Monroe, MI, and I am working on officially documenting and verifying the rarity of my 1983 CJ-8 Scrambler.
Based on my initial research, the firewall tag, VIN, and frame rail numbers align to form a very rare factory combination. I would love to get the registry curators' take on this build configuration to see how many others like it are known to exist.
Here is the exact data string from my vehicle:
  • VIN: 1JCCE88E9DT011515
  • Firewall Paint Code: P1 (Classic Black)
  • Firewall Trim Code: 1EJ (Black Vinyl Laredo with "Italian Purse Strap" vertical woven multi-stripe fabric inserts)
  • Frame Rail Stamp: JOD 1515 (Matches the last 4 of the VIN)
  • Production Logistics Codes: J144995 / 88 / 13
Vehicle Highlights & Options:
  • Factory half-cab black hardtop with full-steel doors.
  • Factory automatic transmission (Chrysler TorqueFlite 999 3-speed, as verified by the "E" in the VIN).
  • Factory Power Steering and Power Brakes.
  • Original Laredo chrome wheels and the original rear swing-away spare tire holder.

  • Note on Engine: The factory 4.2L I6 was updated with a period-correct, upgraded 1976 AMC 304 V8 featuring J-heads (2.02 valves), an Edelbrock aluminum intake, Hedman headers, and vintage aluminum Rambler valve covers.
The original leather-wrapped steering wheel, passenger dash grab bar, and 1EJ tag are completely intact.
I’m hoping to connect with the registry team to see if anyone can shed some light on the approximate production numbers or timeline for a factory Triple Black Automatic Laredo from the 1983 run. Any insights or historical data you can share would be incredibly helpful as I prepare the vehicle's written documentation dossier! Any help is super appreciated!!
Thanks in advance,
Marcel

Welcome, @marcelmommer AMC sequential VIN numbers ran across all models, so the VIN won’t tell you a production date. 5,405 CJ-8s were built in 1983, I have one too… pics would help.

Also, with the engine swap, you won’t have any “bonus” value from any trim rarity. The only way a CJ can get anything remotely close to that is to be an amazing condition survivor that’s dead stock and low-mile.

(If you were looking for resale value, which is what drives most of this sort of inquiry.)

There’s no registry or maintenance of a list, btw.

Not to be skeptical, but are you a human or AI?

There are several parts of your post that point me toward an AI agent.
The selective bold, good point. To what end is the question…
