    Starting on a journey

Looks like a fun and exciting trip. Would love to do that one day.

    5 speed questio

The T5 transmission is not known to be very durable. If it is jumping out of gear, the case is probably bent and possibly cracked causing the gears to spread under load. Best option is an AX15 if you can get one.

    Non-rust belt Jeeps

Get too far south, mostly south east and you have beach runners. They look worse than Ohio winter beaters.

    What's on your Work Bench?

Seems like a lot of expense just to lop 2’ off the trailer length. That, and I’d want a 3rd axle under it.

    New Member New Owner

I think I saw one that looked like that on one of my trips around Texas. Either between San Antonio and Houston or in the Hill Country area, possibly around Johnson City. My CRS is flaring up, so . . . not sure where I saw it.

    Dana 300 Differences

Is it the IH version with the ‘Texas’ front bolt pattern?

The Elephant in the room - the new "Scrambler"

Supposedly there was a full sized model at the event, but there was a ‘no photos’ policy in place. It sounds more like a 2 door - extended wheelbase - gas powered version of the electric recon. Full length top that is removable, IFS, possibly IRS, rear seat can face forward or backwards...

    TF999 non-lockup torque converter

I had a heck of a time finding any when I rebuilt my transmission a few years ago. https://www.cj-8.com/threads/torqueflite-999-rebuild.52594/page-7#post-461708 This was stock style and worked well with the 258 using the sniper. I think I used a lockup trans on this one.

    4XE vs 392 Wrangler

Good to know. That might have swayed my optioning the way I ordered it.

    4XE vs 392 Wrangler

Agreed, 90’ of line ilo 100’. 8,000 lbs ilo 12,000 if I had gone aftermarket. Pull strength can be solved with snatch blocks, resulting in slower pulls with greater power. Line length can be solved with extensions. The factory winch is a special design to be more narrow and the mounting...

    4XE vs 392 Wrangler

Well, I did a thing again . . . Ordered her on 1/23, order confirmed 1/28, scheduled 1/29, in production 2/9, built 2/14, at dealer 3/7. Family went to Lincoln City, Oregon for spring break, so we were not able to pick it up until yesterday. So far, I am loving it. Deep down in my heart I...

Full Length Hardtop Real World Experience Please

Postal & Overlander tops are called world cabs. They made them for -7 and -8 CJs. Without a headliner, it is like sticking a 55 gallon drum on each ear and having a toddler play them like a steelpan. Airflow is severely limited, even with the quarter windows of the Overlander. But it sure...

    Man, I appreciate this site...

Next time, just feed them by insisting you are right and they don’t know what they are talking about. It really gets the know it alls wound up. On my Sahara, that thing is a flimsy piece of plastic. I cut a hole in it to install a front hitch. I did remove a metal skid ‘ish’ plate that was...

    Great/Best CJ Body Shops

I have been trying to get my wife old (08) Land Cruiser repainted. Took it by many shops and said we were paying cash. None of them are interested. I don’t get it, deal with a cash customer that is willing to pay or deal with an insurance company that tells you how much they are willing to pay...

    Torqueflite 999 rebuild

The linkage bushings are the hard part to find. I saw somewhere that there is a source for some that work. Will need to think where I saw that.

OEM floor shifter linkage. I would like to find an OEM column setup for another Jeep.

World Cab - Dome Light Lens

For those with the world cab and the AMC sourced round dome light, Carreplico is reproducing the lens. You can get it with a chrome edge or the solid translucent version. Quality is a 6/10, but they are the only known place to get a new replacement. Cost is high as well, coming in at $40 with...

    Thinking of a JT...

First year they offered it on the Gladiator, they are throwing it on everything. Like mike’s red hot. Kinda happy, kinda not. It was nice having a fairly rare color. It also is spectacular in the sun. Has flakes of blue, pink, and everything in between. Really pops.
