I’ve come to the realization that my torque converter is toast, my Scrambler shutters when taking off or trying to pull hard. It’s probably been going for a while, but has gotten a lot worse since my engine swap to a more “performance” built 360. It’s the original, though rebuilt 20k miles ago...
I’m looking for the part number or length of the speedometer cable for a 258/TF999 Scrambler. It’s probably the same one as a CJ-7, but I haven’t been able to find it. Anyone know it or have it?
My son has been wanting a Willys pickup, but he found a deal on a wagon and dragged it home. He doesn’t have a title yet, doesn’t even know what year it is. We’re going to see what it takes to get it running and stopping and go from there. Might need a head gasket and a lot of other things.
Someone was looking for a solution to replace the threads in the back of a half cab where it bolts down to the bulkhead. I can’t find that thread. I was getting my top out today and took pictures of my solution. I’ve tried redrilling the holes and using a larger bolt…it still pulled out. I tried...
Looking at mini-starters for an AMC 360. The engine is nothing exotic or high compression. I’ve seen the Mean Green, PowerMaster and RobbMC, ranging in price from about $250 up to $420. Any experience, thoughts, recommendations out there? TIA
Anyone on here been there this week? I’ve seen 2 different Scramblers this week, but haven’t been able to catch up to either one. Both black, one stock with a full top and another one lifted a bit.
This M38 was given to me by a friend before he passed several years ago to do “something” with. Well, with work finally proceeding, it’s been giving Dustin (JeeperDD on here) some work. Today it became a roller again. Using a lot of stuff I already had with a lot of additions. Aiming for 4.3...
The dogs, kids and adults have enjoyed this tire ever since I put it up. It’s had way more use hanging off the tree than it ever did on my Scrambler. For the record, I wiped it out at a SOA National.
There are still spaces available. This is a great event that a lot of us Scramblers go to every year, for many years. Trail rides, dinner on Saturday with a huge raffle and a great time. Don’t wait, register and come join us. September 16 and 17, near Lovingston, Va.
Here is the registration...
This event, put on by the Virginia 4 Wheel Drive Association, is usually an immediate sell out, but for some reason, there are spots still available. It a great trail ride, dinner and huge raffle. The sign up information is available through the V4WDA website or Facebook page. There are a lot of...
I finally managed to clear up some shop space by moving some things around and got the Scrambler in. I reinstalled the bulkhead, half top, full doors and the tonneau cover, did some cleaning. They do look good with the half cab on.
I want to switch the cooling fan to an electric setup on my CJ-7. It tends to heat up a lot...406 abc. An engine driven fan and shroud won’t work, the engine is too low in the chassis to get them to line up. I’d rather not go junkyard hunting this time of year. So, does anyone know of a good...
