1983 Scrambler resto

Put the original harness with the fuel inj harness on top of the engine to evaluate what needs to be done. Discovered only three wires for the fuel inj. : unit--black, red and yellow. Yellow was connected to a red wire in the original harness. Separated the two and removed original main harness. Black ot ground, red the 12 volt. Simple. Will continue on it tomorrow. Installed computer brain on firewall, as well as charcoal cannister.

Planning on having the grab bar covered with spice-colored leather and sewn like baseball glove stitching.

your Scrambler is looking Beautiful...coming together rather nicely

how much longer do you think it will be before your driving around in it making heads turn ?

Thanks MM1. Can't say when it will be done but pushing to start this weekend. No exhaust tho so will be loud.

WOW it is looking good from down here too.You blokes are so lucky to be able to get your parts so easily and so cheap:bow:

Thanks. Will add more in the next few days. Ordered few minor parts today. Working on harness this p.m. Need to paint new inner door handles tonight, camel color SEM, clean up the openings for the door locks and insert them into doorl, then install the door panels.

Got a little accomplished this weekend. Tried to finish wiring under the hood with the Painless system and the fuel injection harness that was on it when I bought it. I am NOT an electrician!!!! I'd do a whole bunch of other things-- other than the wiring. Hooked up a 10 amp charger to it to see if I was close. Some progress. Heater fan worked, left turn signal activated right turn signal at rear, with the parking light on the left rear. Same on right. Hmmm. Ground? Something in column? Will trace it. No headlights but that may be ground on grill--paint. Did not try to crank it. Volt meter reads 12 volts. Fuel gauge on empty, but it is. Might work. Will attack again this week and add pics.

Wife wanted mahogany shift and tranfer case knobs. Bought and installed. I'm not sold on them--poor instructions and sloppy method of installation- plastic boot over threaded shift lever with small screws into it, then slide up black cover--very poor. Saved the originals I bought, may re-install.

Today, installed 2 rear seats with belts. Tried to install seat brackets up front, not happening. Will try again tomorrow. Frustrating.

But its progress...

Progress tonight. Worked on the wiring- installed the Maxifuse, temp sender, and oil pressure sender. Oil pressure has a 2 wire oil switch that I'm not sure where to wire to, from the Painless system; no wires to go to it from the Painless system. Also, brake warning light wires from Painless (2) in black 'plug' immediately out of block on firewall, no corresponding wires in original system. Any ideas?

The boosters for the HID headlights. Re-grounded them both sides with star washers tonight. Wired the hot wire to the battery.

Instsalled the two rear seats and seatbelts tonight. Both are done.

The middle seat.

The rear seat done. Both are fold and tumble.

Bought a Rugged Ridge sound bar for the front, only to discover that it was 43 inches wide-- need 48. Oops. Hope they take it back and sell a wider one. New- spice denim, six speaker set-up. Live and learn.

Brake warning wiring

Don't have Painless wiring, but mine has 2 wires which are part of the engine/underhood harness for the brake warning light that go to the differential warning valve switch on the combination valve (metering/proportioning) that is located on the frame. On the dash harness there is a wire for brake warning that went to a switch on the emergency brake.

Thanks 4Miles. Will follow up and track them down.

Have another question for anyone: Bought a soundbar that is new from Rugged Ridge and it's only 43 inches wide. The other I have is 48". Need a wider bar but no one online provides the width. Does anyone have a sound bar that is 48" wide? I have one that I believe is from a 90's Wrangler in the rear but need to know before ordering another.

Man I have looked at all the sites and google searched for Denim Spice seats and no go

they have spice and they have denim black but no denim spice that looks anything like what you have ...you must have lucked into a left over stash somewhere

I was responding on my phone before-- too hard to do right. I bought them from 'Jay' at Salvagejeep in Statesboro Ga. Has a website. He said they were marketed by RuggedRidge. Check any Rugged Ridge dealer. They should have them. Worked on the Jeep tonight. It starts and runs for 1 sec then dies. May be in the ignition switch. Art jumped the switch under the dash and it ran fine--hasn't run in 2 years and started right up. Will work on it tomorrow. Got the HID headlights to work--needed a ground from the battery to the grill; without fenders there is no real ground I guess since it's mounted on a bushing. They came right on--BRIGHT! Parking lights too. Mounted front seats tentatively too. Will take and add pics tomorrow.

Manicman, have you ever located a spice soundbar that's 48 inches wide? Let me know. Need one.

this is the company that appears to be manufacturing them

I would;d call them directly and get the dimensions from them...heck they may be able to custom build something for you even

Lift

Your jeep looks amazing. I like the stance, did you put a lift kitt on? if so, what was the height and did you use a body lift or suspension lift.

Thanks 7464jb. It had a one inch body lift on it when I got it and I removed it and had 3 inch suspension lift put on it. It has 31 inch tires now that will be replaced with what I have on my other Jeep, Goodyear MTR's-- 305's; equivalent to 33's. Can't go any higher--won't fit in garage. So it should actually get about an inch taller from where it is now.

Manicman, thanks, I'll hunt them up. No one advertises width of soundbar. They should...

Back at it.
