Advise on price to ask for CJ-8 Scrambler

I looked at this today, I so wanted to say it is a $20k Jeep. Unfortunately, there are some issues that prevent this.

Alana you are a very nice young lady I enjoyed meeting you and looking over your Jeep. I hope you get what you feel is a fair price. BTW, my wife was fine with me being late after explaining the situation, so no worries.

Honestly, the dealer‘s offer was not as “seriously under value” as I originally thought. They would have been able to flip it at $12k, but they would not be making much profit after they get it sale ready. I usually don’t trust “dealer” offers, but this time it was not outrageous.

Some interesting items, originally a 4 cyl California Jeep, now a 6 cyl w/ T5 transmission and hydraulic clutch, Denim high back seats, Tach/Clock, has the Carb Check light, no factory stripes, aftermarket scrambler logo installed in the ‘80s, front frame cover. Original paint with plenty of patina.

All in all, a great scrambler that needs some TLC.
Thank you for taking time out of you day to come and look over the Scrambler, especially on such a hot afternoon!

Alana

It was my pleasure, I enjoyed meeting you and seeing another local Scrambler.

I do have a number of photos, but they are mostly the issues on the jeep, not any glamour shots. Out of respect for Alana I will not be posting those photos unless specifically requested by her. Same with giving a full description of the issues. If this turns into a sales thread in the for sale section and unless Alana wants me to disclose the info or a specific potential buyer reaches out for the info, I will not be publicly disclosing the details. I hope everyone understands.

Eric, I know this thread is skirting the no selling without an asking price rule, but in this circumstance I felt it appropriate to help the best I could. If I offended in any way it was unintentional.

You’re fine.

Thank you all for the good advise. I have to work on getting the title switched to Texas, and only my name, before I try to sell.

Ordinarily I'd need to delete this thread because we don't allow "what's it worth" threads here.

I'm allowing this one out of respect for the situation and now that we have a member who's seen it in person.

I'm seriously hopeful that @ag4ever took a couple dozen photos for her so they can be added and treat 12k as an asking price?
I'm sorry, I didn't realize this was not allowed. My son in law, found this site for me. I wish my husband would have found it, he would have loved being part of this Scrambler group.

You're fine, I understand why you posted in this situation and that's why I'm ok with leaving this. I agree, your husband would have loved us :)

The issue with these kinds of threads, usually, is that the people just want to basically run an auction where people send them bids. That's not a safe situation for the buyer and isn't fair as there's no regulation or visibility, so we made the decision years back to not allow that kind of thread. When the title is sorted and you want to list it, just post a price for which you'd sell if offered. It can be "or best offer" but that's lower offer. Otherwise you'll want to go to Facebook marketplace, Craigslist or an auction site. Once you post there, you can post the link to it here.
