The VIN on the dash reads: 1JCCF87E6GT141254
Let me know if you need the tub vin.
 
Haven't previously verified 1986 Scramblers had CJ-7 VIN numbers? I seem to recall something like that.
 
Heh, that would be too funny... the ultimate proof that AMC was ALL OVER THE PLACE with parts--even VINs! :eek: :D

I want it to be an 86 so bad... that would mean that there really is a chance of coming across one in a barn someday :cool:
 
The tub's vin is 1JCCM88E7CTO15452.

Tailgate?..........(Gasp) I had to run a fiberglass tub. The original was beyond repair due to the lovely salt we use here in MN(RUST!). I used the original firewall from the old tub and bolted it to the fiberglass firewall, for a couple of reasons: Strengthen the fire wall (especially around the steering colum and brake booster. So I would have a template of where to drill holes. And so I would have the original vin number plate attatched.

The cj-7 thing would make sense to me now, even my insurance card says it's a cj-7. Talked with my agent about this and she said I am still covered, she didn't have scrambler's in her system to put on the card.(or something like that)

This isn't a good sign, unfortunaltely. Why is the dash VIN different from the tub VIN? I already suspect the answer. I'm guessing the vehicle was pieced together, and the windshield came from an '86 while the tub/firewall was an '82.

Gee Ted - if he has an 1882 CJ-8 that would be more rare than a 1986 wouldn't it? :D Hell if only the South had a fleet of 8's... :cool:

You got me,I guess I should have looked at the post with my reading glasses on,before I listed it.I fixed it.
 
Now I'm confused, nothen like a kick in the pants!!!!:eek: :eek: O' well, still love it the same!!
At least the title "claims" it's a 1986. That should be worth equivelant to 2 chickens a goat and maybe a hamster!!:D
 
Quick question, what VIN is on the title? And does it indicate '86 CJ-7 or '86 CJ-8???
 
I'll have to get back to you on the title vin. But I do know it says 1986 cj8.
