Anyone keep their jeep stock?

How many people on here have a stock or close to stock 8? In my parts collection and bodywork phase of my rebuild I keep getting the strong urge to put it back how it was from the factory. Or maybe as close as I can get it. Minus tires/wheels/lift of course. I know there's not much appeal with a stock 4 banger but the classic look gets me sometimes.

I think my next will be a 5. Maybe fiberglass
. I do have all the running gear and a frame that needs patching.

Mine is almost completely stock. There is an add-a-leaf kit in the front and rear...and a winch. There aren't many "survivors" out there.

My original 151 engine needs a rebuild but luckily I have all the other parts except the carburetor. Is there any way of telling what options my jeep may have had on it?

I feel like springs aren't really deviating from stock too much. After 30+ years I wouldn't keep stock springs on anything.

My tan one is stock except for springs and tires and winch. Well, and flares to cover the tires. I still have AMC-labeled belts and hoses even. And one of those Retro-Sound radios I play cassettes on. Well, and the tire carrier isn't stock either, I guess. But I like the stock look! Nothing on it that I couldn't have done in 1981. Resto-mod, then.

I am big into the survivor thing. And also putting original graphics back on. Lifted looks great with original graphics. The packages were just so cool back in the 70s and 80s. To me anyway :smokin:

My '81 is very close to stock except for a seats, power windows, keyless entry and electric door locks.

I know mine was originally Olympic white but I'm not sure if the hardtop matches the tan colored interior panels and seats. It had been painted bright orange twice... I'm not sure if it had any decals either.

Every time I think about leaving mine stock I remember that sr4 transmission sitting in my closet... Anyone know what years the 176 came with the 4 cylinders?

Nothing wrong with replacing that SR4! Still will look "stock" I also like the wheel spacers idea the a member did on here on his all stock 81, or even a wide track swap on narrow track 81s. It's your canvas. Do what you want. It's not like you tore apart an all original pristine CJ, you can now do anything with it :bacon:

I never imagined the t176 came with the 4cyl until I had one. It was a 1983.

I'll probably keep the sr4 though in case I decide to do a complete fully stock restoration someday.
