Available Tops for Scrambler

"...find someone with a postal (or overlander locally) to take dimensions off (of yourself)...."
that's Y I'm here.
/OR/
the other 1/2 of which is:
a 'member' who has one, has done that. Anybody there W or N of Detroit have one?

"...the way you want to..."
is the way it is, as far as I can tell.
Been goin national/international (the net) for local contacts since '82.
Thanks for your post-back, its helpful !
@revho has a postal and he's in the Grand Rapids area I think.

If I remember my history correctly the ‘85-‘86 CJ-10a tugs used the same square corner doors as the world cab and they can be used as well.
Correct, I have a set of CJ-10a doors for my postal top. Original doors that went with my postal top were sold separate from the top before I got it.

You can also get the square corner doors from a CJ-10 out of Australia. I have a set of spare glass for the square doors I got from a Jeep dismantler in Australia. That glass came from a CJ-10. I was planning to build square corner doors from a set of round corner doors before the tug doors became available.

I have tried to save money by DIYing projects, in the end it always costs more than just paying up front.

Occasional a CJ-10a cab comes up for sale. It would be much easier to lengthen one of those.

The world cab is a double wall sheet metal top. To replicate it, you are building 2 tops and combining them. At the front doors, there are multiple metal trim pieces that creat the door header. Same for the rear door. There are special brackets for the rear door to latch, similar to the tailgate brackets on a scrambler, but use the same door pin as the front door latches.

This is good, very good (if applicable to the overlander). I am slightly familiar w/the big 3 (more ford's 'empty box' manufacturing process). Altho rare I think, if correct, could be used for this idea.
I should explain, many tell me I speak/write in short hand. This is not to be concourse correct, fool anybody. I am old, poor, and short on time. I think about how great these rigs were and seek a means to 'incrementally' develop just a top (1 mo the 2 corners, another 2 pieces fora roof, etc). It is as much documentation (read: sharing) as anything. You all have let me know abt 'notchin @ the windshield" etc. I would attempt this w/a cj8, that's in existence, something that would drop on. It seems the 2 frnt passenger's doors might B 'world' exclusive, probably lots more. Just wanna recreate a 'top'. Dont have the resources the glass co's had to do so, believe in the metal more...
Thnx~

Get pictures of the old Willy's CJ sheet metal tops and maybe go from there/use for ideas and/or inspiration.
Not the best picture but I am pretty sure this was homemade. This was for sale in Cincinnati on ebay a few years ago(wish I could have bought it)

Anyone ever see a top like this for their CJ8?

The window looks like the size for a CJ7 hardtop. So either extended CJ7 top or one of those full fiberglass hardtops without side windows with these smaller windows added.
I have seen some people extend the Cj7 tops and it usually doesn’t come out right. This one looks pretty good from the pictures. I just wasn’t sure if any company made the CJ8 tops standard like this with the smaller windows. I’m hoping to see it in person later this week.

Does/did anyone ever make a soft top - fastback for a cj8?
Also, has anyone run into fitment issues with a cab rollcage and a full soft top?

I don't believe there was a mass produced fastback top made. I have seen pictures of several that were modified "normal" tops.

#16.. where did you get the door uppers ?
Are you referring to post#16? I did not see a picture on that post. Which uppers are you looking for? By the way, I saw your post about uppers and I think you got some good answers there.

Nevermind. You were looking at picture #16 from the first post. I believe those will only work with the soft top by the way. The curve right above the handle will not work on the hard top as the hard top has a more pronounced curve. If those are the ones I am thinking of based on looking at the picture.
