Good morning all!!!

Just a quick introduction, after many years of being behind the wheel of our Japanese counterparts (FJ40), I'm happy to say I'm back in a Jeep, and very thankful its a Scrambler!

Say hello to a 1981, rust free, Camo Tan beauty!
5EB interior, originally had a 151, but at some point an '85 4.2L & T176 was swapped in, and she runs great!

Yes, I believe the paint and decals are 100% original. I have matching color doors as well that came with it and I believe to be original to the truck however the glass is broken in both.

I know the black doors were added at some point, and I do not know if the black half cab is original either.

Awesome find! Post some more pics of that beauty when you get a chance.

Welcome, that's a great looking Jeep. What are your plans for it? Seems like I've seen this one before. Did you buy it locally?

BTW I am in Moore and @93_Fummins is in Edmond. There are quite a few 8s around the OKC area.

As a reformed Land Cruiser addict and long term TLCA member, welcome.

You're going to love your 8; your shorty 40 and it's parts made from pure unobtainum will become a distant painful memory as you bask in the glory of American Motors' greatest creation.

Great looking rig there. Like ih8mud, pics are greatly appreciated.

Great to hear a few OKC Metro folk are around! I've seen a few out and about over the years.

This one was bought new in Ardmore, and spent the first 5 or so years of its life down on Lake Texoma living the easy life of a cabin truck launching the owner's boat. Then in the late 80s it was moved to a ranch near Chickasha and has been in that area ever since.

And @Chamba, Shhhh, don't tell the folks over at ih8mud I'm back domestic...I wouldn't say I'm reformed quite yet! Loved the FJ40, but deep down I'm a Jeep fan, my first car was an '80 CJ-7 and I still think about the fun I had with it. With that said, a Land Cruiser is still its stablemate!

Your secret is safe with me. That 8 looks like a great score.

I grew up with Cruisers (although my dad had a Willys wagon when I was young) but in '81 one of our neighbours got a Scrambler and I was in awe. I bought a couple YJs new in 93 and 95 (and my 40 became a pleasure driver) and had a 7 briefly but always dreamed of an 8. I finally got mine about 4 years ago and I'm absolutely in love with it. I've rebuilt it completely and more I drive it daily when I'm not at work.

I only recently put more into my 8 than I sold my 40 for... but now it's basically a brand new car.

Nice 200. Wife has an ‘08.

It would be near perfect if Toyota did not use 90’s - 00’s era radios in them.

Finally drove it a bit this weekend, and it drives great!!! Tracks straight, no wandering, steering is surprisingly tight. PO hacked the wiring harness for what looks like no reason whatsoever, and temp gauge doesn't work (all signs point to bad a gauge).

Question for the Experts, are these the original seats? My gut says no, the fronts are either aftermarket or recovered, and it has a rear facing seat in the bed I know the rear was added at some point (dealer when new or shortly after)

Thank you everyone!!

Front seats I can not say it has been to long that I have seen a set of original seats The back looks like an original Jeep rear. Who put it in would be any ones guess. Scrambler didn't come with a rear seat. It was pretty common to add the rear seat, and turn it around so who ever was sitting there was more protected by the roll bar than the normal position.

In my experience, installing a painless wiring harness now will solve most, if not all, your electrical issues and save you countless hours of chasing gremlins.

That was the single best/ easiest improvement I've ever done.

That could be a good Get you home idea need to keep that in the back of my mind.

Fronts look aftermarket, rear looks OEM. If they’re comfortable that’s what matters.
That’s a really nice looking Scrambler. And yes, a Painless harness will solve most wiring woes. Getting working gauges might be a bit more difficult.
