I had 3 Fat Tires last night. Nothing special. I have (had) a 12 pack if those and a 12 of Sam Adams Boston Lager to get through.
I am looking forward to this upcoming Friday when I will be enjoying some fresh Lost Rhino beverages at the brewery/pub when I go there to see my neighbor's last gig. Any locals to NoVa are welcome to join me.
Wifes drink tonight from B. meadery, Dudes Rug. It is a cider brewed with tea and chai spices. Definitely a sipper. Best art work and name for a drink I have seen in a while.
So last night went to the Lost Rhino brewery and had a few. The winner was this Bone Duster amber that actually had whale bone dust in it. Weird but VERY good beer.
And tonight I am having an amber from Abandon Brewing Co from somewhere in upstate NY. My neighbor just moved up there and brought me back some this week in a growler. I like it a lot as well.
Kevin, you and my neighbor have the same taste in beer. He is a PBR fanatic. I had one at his place the other weekend. First for me in decades. And I must say, better than Bud. But not dark enough for me.
Realized I forgot to post this from Friday. Victory Dirt Wolf double IPA. And we have a new top five beer! So good, and bonus that Kate really loves it too. Had to find this supply in Oho though, hopefully I can track it down locally at some point.
It basically tries to explain why the design of the glass affects the flavor of the beer.
Has anyone had the same beer in different glasses and noticed a difference in the flavor?
Do bars that sell stouts and IPA's use different style glasses for each?
Sorry, I found this interesting and immediately thought I should ask the experts.
Also, there are pics if you open the link.
Yes it's true. Haven't read the article but a big part of taste is smell, they're closely tied together. Some beers have a stronger smell that needs to dissipate to not be overpowering and some have lighter smells that can be concentrated to improve the experience.
I'm a big believer in the right glass for the right beer.
Picked up a single bottle of Shorts Brewing Cinnibilly. It is a Dopplebock brewed with cinnamon. Something different, not bad though.
Also a 6 pack from Saugatuck Brewing called Oval Beach Blond. Oval beach is a local beach here on Lake Michigan. Very light and refreshing blond ale, perfect summer beer and cool graphics on the label.
