bigwalton Postal teardown/rebuild - what would you do?

@bigwalton try calling dealer and ask for them to pull up VIN for service history. I did this on my recent JL purchase by asking if there was open warranty work needed and was provided compete history of at least dealer service items and mileage intervals.
 
Great score! There will be some minor changes needed such as the oil pan, maybe exhaust manifolds, and power steering if I recall correctly (all due to placement on the car engine versus the truck engines) but overall easy work for what you are getting.
 
You live in Michigan. Surely any more miles and that pot metal would be corroded. Even if it's twice that you're going to get years and years out of it. As long as the price is reasonable I wouldn't let that get away.
Both my 2020 diesel silverado And my wife's 2022 tahoe diesel send me emails about required maintenance based on their current mileage. I've never had either vehicle into the dealer or a mechanic for service and yet I get these emails regularly. That tells me that chevy must know my mileage via big brother. I wonder if you could find out the mileage from the computer?
I'm sure I know the answer, but any chance you're considering a manual in this swap? What a sweet setup that would be....

I prefer RHD generally, manual or auto. But then I grew up with RHD.
 
My neighbor has a RHD manual diesel Defender 90. I have not driven it yet, but will some day. I have a fear that I will want 1st gear to be next to my leg (flipped), but I know it is still to the left.

What would you do with the transmission? I can’t believe the 4.0 auto would take that much torque?
