boxes of parts to become an '82 scrambler

I found a radiator hose that fits. The part number that I found recommended for a Chevy motor swap in a CJ did not fit, so I had to make a guess by the length ad bend.

I kept the sticker on just for the photo to show the Napa part number.


 
NAPA 8835 just in case the picture disappears in time as some do.

I got one door put together and it works. I figured I would take pictures of the progress on the second door so I could post it. I didn't have all the pieces so I had to buy a bunch and improvise.

I couldn't find this little bracket thing anywhere. I had to make these pieces to go on the lock cylinder.

New paddle handles. I have the old ones, but they look pretty rough, and they are chrome. I wanted black.

The latch mechanism cleaned up pretty well. On the first one I added some chain lube, it is a dry lubricant with ptfe. I don't think it will attract dust and get gummed up. I'll do the same here.

Here's what I had to do for my hose.

Next I installed the window and roller mechanism. I just removed that screw hold in the roller track so the roller wheel could slide right in.

This triangle window was the hardest part. After wrestling for too long, I removed the roller track arm from the window and removed the little bump stop on the bottom of the door. This allowed the window to drop farther and gives more room to get the guide bar in piece of the triangle window to slide in. After that I lubricated the window seal with hand sanitizer and pressed it into place. It took a lot of pushing to get that thing in place.


 
Then I attached the weather strips and seals. I don't have door panels yet, so I will fit the doors to the jeep next.

The doors don't close flush with the body. Maybe because there is a new door seal that it not yet conformed to the opening...


 
Mine were like that. The aftermarket rubber isn't as soft as OEM but it will get better.
