Good looking Jeep and I'd say you're doing quite well for a self described novice. Did you get the hood with the louvers installed with the project?
 
Very observant noticing the louvers from that view. Here is a better view-

The hood came with all the other parts for the jeep. I'm just trying to get it to fit. Glad you like it though. I wasn't sure if it was weird or not.


 
Always a good feeling when you get the first successful run. Sounds like the kids want a ride also. Can't wait to see it done.
 
Awesome, but a little tentative with that V8!! I was expecting a big burnout on the snow and maybe a little 180 degree turn!
 
I was tentative. I was totally expecting something to go wrong. I've never built a vehicle before, and never driven a jeep before. So far so good though.


 
Great to see it rolling under its own power. Project is looking good, let me know if you need a hand on something at any point.

I put in a dual fan out of a ford contour this weekend. Also installed a dccontrol variable speed fan controller (FK45).

Got the wipers and motor on the windshield. I had to run a ground wire from the motor housing to a good ground under the dash. All the new paint is is insulating the metal.

Nice job to date but a couple observations,
Is that rigid pipe just above the water pump pulley a fuel line? :eek: If so you may want to revisit the routing on that one again.
And the corrugated upper rad hose, maybe for temp use like a spare tire but you should find a molded hose that fits. Chevy conversions are common and there are made to fit hoses available. Just my .02

I also had to fab and run grounds from everywhere to make things work. The paint was insulating the metal just like yours.

Is that the fan controller on the inner fender in the last pic. Update us on how that works out. It looks like a healthy fan set up.

Thank you for your feedback. Yes, that is the fuel line that you pointed out. I really struggled with finding a place to route that. Based on the pieces I had, it must have been routed like that before the jeep was disassembled. Anyone with tpi fuel rails have any pictures?

Yes, the fan controller is on the inside of the passenger fender. It was pretty simple to wire and I like the variable speed feature. So far so good, I think. I need to get a speedo cluster with a functional temp gauge. I ordered the speedhut replacement. Can't wait till it comes in.
Thanks a lot for your $0.02. I am a novice and need to figure out how to do everything I have done so far. And so far I love it.

This noise had me upset for a couple days. I checked for exhaust leaks, pulled the valve cover and checked the rockers. Everything seemed fine. Turns out it was the dip stick. If it is not pressed in until it clicks, it will vibrate at the end and make that noise. Glad I didn't have to fix anything.



 
That's for sure!

Come to think of it, my engine has had a clicking lifter for quite a while, now... I think I'll go out and make sure the dipstick is fully seated! ;)

I went into O'Reilly Auto Parts and sifted through all of the hoses they had and took the few that looked close to fitting, took them home, used the closest fitting and took the others back. Might be one way to find what you need
