Expedition Scrambler..?

Call Alcan anyways and talk to them- explain your situation and they might come up with some good advice.

So...are you using Waggy fronts for your rears? Maybe this will help...

ding, ding, DING!!!

Ladies and Gentlemen.... it begins again!
Got my second package in today with almost all the goodies to get started on putting in the NV4500...Yippieeeee! Clutch/PP/TO brng/ adapter plate/all the hydraulic clutch conversion parts, even the special fluid! Still need to find a shop here to machine the flywheel and then wait for NWF to send the stuff to hook up the Black Box and Dana 300... but at least now I can make some progress! Yea!!!

Distractions...

Got a lil distracted by a Romanian vixen last weekend ( )so didn't get any work done...Went over lunch today and dropped the Flywheel off at a local machine shop. It should be ready tomorrow and I hope this weekend is less...entertaining? I was a lil surprised at the cost of just having the flywheel resurfaced...65Euro...about 80 bucks! I must be getting old since I don't remember it costing but like 30?? Oh well...got to be done! :)

Lol!

Figures I'd get the TTIWWP....! Not the greatest pics but here ya go...lol! Gotta say that being about 6' and hanging out with someone almost a foot shorter is...interesting! haha!

You done good!

That bar looks ....interesting...

Must resist...

Thanks Randy...she's a spitfire to be sure...haha. Just have to find a way to resist the siren call and get to wrenching tomorrow. Dating a bartender doesn't lend itself to much sleep...lol! But I have the pilot bushing soaking in oil, the flywheel is all sexy and machined, and everything else should be ready to begin assembly. Still don't have the parts for the BlackBox but they were supposed to have been shipped out Tuesday. Guess I can get the clutch and monster tranny in and deal with the rest when it comes. Not that I really have a choice.
Going to try for one or two beers and a few kisses and then back home to sleep for tomorrow. Wish me luck! :)

nuts...

sorry... failed (foiled?)again. Got a 0330 call to go pick up a buddy at the bar and played hell in the snow going to get him. That kinda screwed up the hope for a full nights sleep. Followed by the Sirens call...ugh. I need a nap now. Maybe next weekend I will get something done. :(

take it from a (twice) married guy...

you've got all your life to turn wrenches... you do NOT have all your life to run around with hot single Romanian bartenders...

carry on

Long in the tooth..

I know what your saying BM6. But more because the age thing keeps creeping up on me. lol! I suppose being "married" to the Army has been enough, Lord knows it its similarities. :banghead:
I suppose I would have been married by know if it was easier to find women that had an actual interest in Jeeps....haha! To all you out there that do...your lucky!
Today I will get the bell housing drilled and tapped in my room and then go try and fix the heater in my DD VW Golf. Yuk...a car.

very true... and I think we deserve more pics of said Romanian bartender... :D

imagination...

Lol! You guys are killing me here...haha. I'm not really thinking about taking pictures when we are hanging out...ahem. Maybe a brief description helps your imaginations..
She's about 5'1'', maybe all of 125lbs? curvy in the good spots but not so perfect she has issues of being stuck up. Guess that has something to do with her being willing to hang out with a regular guy like me... :) I'd have to say she is like a firecracker...perfectly innocent until you get the fuze lit.... haha!

tease... pics or it didnt happen!!! ;)

yeah yeah....

Lol! Yeah, sorry to disappoint. :rotfl:\

On a side note I have been going through crap in my room looking for my tap/die sets. I've pretty much come to the conclusion that they are in the back of the Jeep and beyond reach until this week soo... I found something I wasn't sure I had? The pitman arm on my heep is not doing me a lot of good...IIRC I ordered it from PartsMike and it was supposed to be for the Hysteer setup. The issue I have is the current pitman arm is tapered to make the TRE fit from top to bottom. Doing this doesn't give me a flat drag link angle like it should and I had gone round and round with PM about this. Anyway... I found this in one of my junk boxes and wondered if anyone recognizes the emblem on it? There is no numbers or anything on it and I will try it out on the Jeep when I get a chance since it at least has the taper going the correct way. I just don't remember where it came from and if its for one of my other projects? FSJ, Jeepster commando...?? Shrugs. Anyway... I'll try it and hope it works...I'd be cool if it does. Anyone recognize the bird logo?

Must resist....

Going to attempt to resist the call of the vixen tomorrow in hopes of wrenching on the heep. Actually got it inside the shop today and hopefully all the snow/ice will have melted off it and it will be warm enough to work on. Pulled the NV out of the crate it was delivered in and forgot I had other stuff in there...haha. The York for the OBA and the brackets for the cage to dashboard (YJ) as well. And since I'm off monday I may be able to better resist missing my chance to work on it tomorrow... Wish me luck, update to follow.

Hands on...

Well...I actually did it. I resisted and was able to put in about 6 hours work but not really that much progress in my opinion. I spent a long time fighting the old, wallowed out pilot bushing trying to get it out. The shops puller was to worn out to work so I went to the old school method of filling with grease and trying to force it out using a clutch alignment tool and a hammer. After a couple hours I had to resort to drilling it and breaking it into chunks. :banghead:
Then I realized how much cleaning I still have to do that I should have been doing before. This wasn't helped after discovering that the bay I am using has a wall mounted steam cleaner!!!!!! Double :banghead: Turns out I can use that to clean the underside of the heep but i have to be there early in the morning to do it so I don't make a mess or get other folks sprayed down in the process. I'm off Monday so that will be my first priority. I'm struggling with wanting to get stuff put together but I know me, and I won't be happy if I do it and then wish I had spent some time cleaning, undercoating, and painting stuff. The back of the engine block that used to look brand freakin' new has begun to surface rust due to being outside and the constant wetness here. I don't want that to get out of hand and maybe risk a freeze plug leaking so I will paint it after steam cleaning and before assembly. I got the backing plate and bell housing all cleaned up and painted so they should be dry by the time I get back to it. I also got the Bell drilled and tapped and the adapter is ready to bolt in place. I was under the impression that the bell should have at least had two of the holes that would work and just the other two needing D&T. That wasn't the case. The two lower openings had a small hole about the size of a pencil but not big enough for a bolt and no threads? I used these first and opened the hole up and drilled all the way through then ran a tap in. Inserted and tightened the bolts and then used the same size drill to locate the center of the other (top) holes. Then it was D&T as usual. All in all not to bad since it was all aluminum though it was a little scary... I hate tapping stuff! lol!
One other thing I will have to do is clean the surface rust off the tranny. It really looks like crap despite being a very low mileage take out that used to look good. Can't justify going to all the effort to have a big, rusty turd lurking under there! Hopefully the rest of the stuff will arrive soon too. I don't really "need" it to keep going but it would be nice. I've tried tracking it on UPS and see it made it from Canada to San Francisco on the 28th but no idea where it is now...? At least I have plenty to do in the interim. really wish the shop was open all weekend and I did hear from the manager they are actually thinking about it now...Crossing fingers.
But now its time for a shower, good scrubbing, then beer-30! Need to go see how my vixen is doing also...
And no... no pics today since there wasn't much other than cussing and banging my head with the pilot bushing... lol!

The jeep 2 step...

Well... Two steps forward, one back. I spent most of the day wrenching and made great progress! Unfortunately my home Internet is down so I'll post the progress report as soon as I can type on something other than this dumb phone. Can't even add pictures... Smart phone my butt! Lol!

Back on line...

Stupid internet...Bill payed Monday, 'net turned off Wed? ***? Oh well...
So a few things to add about my progress, and some pics. :)
Waiting to paint something right before installing it is stupid. lol. But that tranny needed a good cleaning and then some paint and so I managed.
Gotta get to work so I'll add more later. :)
