Got the Vortec V8, Now what?

I prefer the 241C- Just a personal observation. There is a SYE eliminator available for the 241C from JBConversions, maybe others. I don't like the slip yoke output unless it is for an unlifted unwheeled Jeep. The SYE is added insurance and extra strength. The 208 has a 2.61/1 low, the 241c Has a 2.71/1 low. Not enough difference to matter. The 241c is the newer version.

Been working on my extended Scrambler. Did the frame awhile back and have a rolling chassis. I cut the cab section off of a CJ-7 and the bed area off a really bad postal tub. Lots of work on the underside replacing sheet metal and caged body mount nuts. All stuff to make the two halves useable. Now I've get to join them. Back section is bolted down. Front section has a few inches to be removed to get it to match up to the body mounts. If I'd started with nicer body parts it would have been much easier, but then there would be one less Scrambler on the road and this way there will be one more. Got the wheel wells and the under-the-roll-bar metal from Classic Enterprises. They do make good parts. I used some spring hangers to run the chains through for lifting the body. Misplaced the custom ones I made but these worked out really well. Today I cut and fitted the halves and almost got it lining up. I'll take a new picture of that tomorrow.

Got the body back to where all body bolts are in. Floor is matching up better. Underneath I clamped 2 channel iron sections in place to be welded. Had to stop and start leather covering a wheel for a Jeep shop. That's it for now.

Got some more done. Cut out more old sheet metal to allow for one big piece to cover each side. Got a 4X8 sheet of 16 guage for $100. This is way less than buying two side panels that wouldn't be long enough. I didn't even see them listed anywhere anymore. Going to shape the fender well flanges tomorrow. Ordered some fender flares and they sent YJ rears. Sending them back. Another seller selling Scrambler fender flares says the rears need modification. I hope other sellers have the correct ones. Just a lot of cutting and grinding.

Fitted a lot of smaller pieces between the two tub sections and covered up a lot with these two panels. Also added two more channels to the underside to tie the sections together. Working on an extra body mount on both sides. I did put the flange on the side panels. Need to drill the mounting holes for the fender flares next. Second set of fender flares came today and they were also Wrangler rears from Crown. Does anybody still sell the correct rear fender flares for our CJ-8s?

AdamH uses the Rugged Ridge (Omix) on his builds.

(There was a discussion here somewhere on the Crown vs. Omix.)

Interesting build Kim, looks like you have a decent start finally. (y)

I thought about doing something similar when I built mine, but I wanted to add a more length than that to have a rear seat. 🤔

Very cool though, I look forward to seeing the next set of pictures.

Thanks for the Omix tip. Crown fender flares from JC Whitney and PartsHawk came with YJ rears. Another vendor sells Crown and states that they need modification. Crown must be packaging them this way now.

Got the driver side drilled for the fender flare and clamped in place. To form the lip around the fender well, I clamped two pieces of steel plate together and hammered it down. Got the extra body to frame mounts positioned and bolted in place ready for welding. You can see the 3" channel they bolt through that I added to strengthen the body connection. Used 2" channel for the inner connections. Between those two mounts is the distance added to the body and frame. . .about 12".
