Heads up: Tapatalk going away on CJ-8.com

I got Tapatalk when it came out. Hated it. Very happy with full (desk top) version in browser. If I need to send pics it can wait till I get home.

How do I get the default mobile style? When I go to that drop down on safari on my 6s the only choices are Jamaica and Slate Blue....

A couple people have mentioned that issue, we're looking for a new mobile theme to add that should be fully compatible with anything.

On that note, if anyone wants to search for suggestions for the theme, feel free to suggest away!

Are there other apps as a possibility? Just wondering

Not that I'm aware of. This gets into a longer discussion about what Tapatalk is and how it works, it's not just an app.

Basically, a mobile theme tries to make things as clean and streamlined as possible, but, as I said, the basic forum is working really well on my phone with slate blue.

You mentioned the Iphone 6. Are you using safari also? Some other app?

I've used this same set up for atleast 2 years and haven't had an issue. Thanks for all your hard work behind the scenes.

Ah hah! Yes, an IPhone 6, but I use Chrome , not Safari. Just tried in Safari and I don't see the mobile theme!

I've been testing out the "mobile theme" and I've found that I just prefer using the normal forum in my browser better then the mobile one. Just my preference of course but it seems to show more information "at a glance" vs. having to scroll and click. I'd advise to try both and see which one you like best.

Agree with that completely. I think we will still find a new mobile theme, but overall, I'm all good with the Slate Blue.

Yup no mobile app in Safari for me either. Still no ads and pop ups either.

Smilies are a little difficult to use but honestly that's not even a complaint.

Missed this thread till now.

Not very sad to see this go. Tapatalk has become to complicated, advanced, whatever you want to call it. It started as a simple, quick, forum surfer. Now not so much. PM's on tapatalk don't go to the forum and you can't see them there. And many other setting I can't control. Just yesterday I almost deleted the app, this will just seal the deal.

I have sent them many emails about exactly that kind of thing. They were the epitome of the "If it ain't broke, fix it" mentality where they tried to add things no one wanted. Could have been great if they had a "lite" version that just viewed the forums and PMed and not one damn thing more.

I must be missing something because I have no issues with this app. It is simple, quick, takes images without stamping them, edits posts easily. I couldn't see an app being any easier than this is now.

The tapatalk app? The issues driving this decision are on the back end admin and the things they're forcing on us as the forum owners (Tapatalk only works with us installing stuff on the back end, it's not just an app that reads the forum, it's much more complex than that). I also have a ton of issues with the way the app works but that's beside the point. There is no debate to be had, the decision has been made.

My 2 cents on a mobile theme (completely non technical from a web page creation standpoint) is that the craigslist mobile web page works better than any other web page I've used. Uber simple, uber fast. Not sure if something like that is feasable

We don't build the theme, just find/buy/install one that is commercially available.

My experience is different. As a computer idiot I installed the CL app hoping it'd be easier. I've found it less useful and often searches done on the regular site return more results than the app despite using the same search parameters. I don't like missing jeep stuff so the app is getting ditched.
I'm still trying to figure out the regular cj8 site stuff. The slate blue comments confuse me. Lol
