First real post on the Scrambler forum. Wanted to introduce myself and my Scrambler. My name is Eric Taylor, married to a wonderful woman that doesn't mind my jeep sickness. We have two beautiful little girls that love riding in the jeep, camping and 4 wheeling. We try to get out as much as we can in the Jeep. Currently live in NC and wheel alot in Uwharrie National Forest. We have been messing around with Jeeps for about 13 years and have owned CJ's, YJ's and TJ's. This is our first CJ-8 and we love it, plenty of room for the family and lots of gear. Hopefully we will be enjoying the Scrambler for a while. Here are some pics of what we have been doing with it for the last year in between wheeling it and deployments.

Day I brought it home.

Before the cage was started I removed 4 inches from each wheel well in the bed so I could install a really wide PRP bench seat for the girls. It turned out really nice, will post pics of it when I can find them.

Started building a family cage for it.

The 304 ran like crap so it got pulled, some motor mounts got fabbed and in went the 5.0 HO, C-6, NP205 Combo.

The 38's looked a little small on the Scrambler and I found a deal on some new 42's I couldn't pass up.

And it currently sits in the backyard patiently waiting for me to get home and finish wiring the 5.0, build the cross member for the C-6/205, install the front HP Dana 60, finish plumbing the fuel, finish the exhaust work and put the winch back on it. Can't wait. Hope to see some of you in the South East soon on the trails and next year running around in Alaska when we move up there.

It is nice to see another CJ-8 in North Carolina. I've had some good times at Uwharrie myself!

I was in Durham and know Uwharrie well, lots of good times (and a couple not as good ) there.

I need to do that same thing to my wheelwells, that is the worst area on my Jeep overall anyway and I'm wide enough not to need all that back there too.

Buffy, not likely anytime soon. We never had any family down there other than sis-in-law out in Nashville. Just missed each other by a few years.

Can you explain more about narrowing the wheel wells in rear? It looks like an interesting mod. Obviously the stance needs to be wider but I am looking for particulars & measurments to see if it is even feasible when I do my frame off..... thnx

On the wheel wells, I just cut the face off of the wheel wells as clean and straight as I could, then I bought sheet metal to match up the thickness of the body to put down in the bed of the jeep, I then cut 4 inches out of the well and rewelded the face back on and took a piece of 3/4 x 3/4 angle iron and stitch welded it along the bottom under the bed and on the outside edge of the wheel well for strength. It worked out really well and gave me the room for the wider race bench in the back. Very easy mod and since I had some rust in that area of the bed it was perfect timing to knock out two birds with one stone. Since I run full widths the tires don't come close to rubbing it. I might have a pic from the outside that shows the angle iron but I will have to check.
