Hey everybody,

Thought I would introduce my ever growing garage of jeeps!

First is a 1974 CJ6. About as original as you can get currently she is down for maintenance as the original 40,000 kilometre engine has a good freshen up with new cams, bearings etc

Next is a pretty original CJ8 Overlander that I purchased a couple of months ago. She was a runner but the intention is to carry out a complete ground up restoration over the next couple of years, (and get rid of the green paint!!)

I also have a 2012 JKU twin locked on 35's with 3.5" AEV lift etc etc but I will stick to the oldies in this post.

Anyway hope you enjoy and look forward to contributing to this great site,

Andrew

I'm trying to read your post, but everything is upside down. :rotfl:

Am I the only one that can't see the pics?

Very nice! Was that the original color of the CJ 8? Love the CJ 6!

No the original colour was Olympic White with tan interior. Yeah love I the 6 I had thought about going with some kind of wild build but she was in such good condition it didn't seem right.

Those are beautiful (well maybe not that green color). Kind of mint ice cream color.

Welcome!

Sounds like it was same color as mine ! Looks like you have the nutmeg seats too. I wonder how close in export date they are. Love to see more of your overlander !!

Yeah exactly the same, mine is an 1985 model but I don't think anything changed from the 84. I read through some of your threads and the story that was done in Jeep Action. Mine was originally from Western Australia as well so no rust issues. I have managed to source the original front bumper as shown in the brochure pics. Also located an original overlander hard top with headlining and rear barn door I don't need them but if anybody is interested I could put them in touch with the guy who has them although the shipping might prove prohibitive.

I'll pop a photo of the id tag up when I get the chance.

Very cool. And mine is practically an '85 and would be if titled here cause the export date was 10/84.

Welcome. Couple of beauties there.

So who here knows what it would cost to ship a top from Austrailia? No way I have funds for that right now, but am still curious.

I am going to put the top in the back of a J10 and ship the J10 back. That's the best way to do it.

funny thing i looked that up and there would be a import and export tax on the value of the j10.. then some kind of tax of 30 percent on top of that..also something about emissions .you would know more then me on this but i didn't go deep into it.. i was thinking it could be floated with 55 gallon drums across the ocean..lol:crazy:

Talk to JeepAddict, he shipped an entire Overlander:thumbsup:

Both those Jeeps are great! I'm also a fan of the CJ-6 and love the looks of yours. As you do the restoration on the 8 I'm sure you'll have a following here.

MAN! You Aussie's always have some sweet rigs! Have you connected with Gazzo yet? Y'all will have a love-fest together! Loving the 6 and the 8. Great looking examples.

On a side note: A coworker in my office (who just returned from 6 years in Australia) said you all called us Americans "Septic Tanks". True? I've been laughing all morning ever since she told me that.

Hey guys, as expected I had a few pm's regarding the overlander parts I mentioned earlier in this thread. To make things easy I have got the owner to join here and have forwarded you pm's to him so that he can make contact with each of you. I will post up if I find other interesting parts providing you all promise not to empty the whole country of parts before I get the things I need! :D

G'day buzzcutter. Nice jeeps. If your 8 came from the west do me a favour and check the chassis number, top of rail right next to the DRIVERS SIDE wheel. Let's see how close it was to all ours coming off the line. We have two here 14 numbers apart and the two we have up the road at the beach that are 8 numbers apart by the VIN. Crazy.
Pman how's it going? We lazy arsed Aussies normally abbreviate Septic Tanks to Seppos. We're too lazy for too many words. ;)

My vin serial is 094679 and the export date was October 1984. It travelled 281,000 or so kilometers in AU until June 2011 and has travelled about 8000 kilometers in the USA.
