My old 1981 SCRAMBLER returns 25 years later

I'm really happy with the color. My wife and girls picked it out online (so I was a little hesitant). It's Summit paint, Bly Sky Metallic. The booth lights don't do it any Justice. When it gets in the sun, the metallic goes crazy and it looks awesome. I was hesitant to try and paint it myself as I haven't ever spayed basecoat clear coat and I haven't ever sprayed a whole vehicle. Next I get to learn about color sanding so I can lay on the last 3 coats of clear. :crazy:

Now it's time for lot's of 1000 grit and 3 more coats of clear on the outside panels
 
I got the rest of the clear sprayed Friday night.


Now 1500 grit and buffing :fingerscrossed:
 
Looks awesome. It looks like it takes a lot of patience to paint/sand and buff.

Patients is far from the top of my list of attributes. I've been forcing myself to take my time and do a good job on the body. I like the spaying part where I can see instant results. :smokin:

Very similar to the color I was going to paint the Scrambler I was building before I got my current Scram. I was going to use "Aruba Blue" which is an Audi RS4 color. sexy as hell.
 
Spent the day with the porter cable buffer :crazy:

I have everything buffed except the fenders and the final stages on the steel doors.

All in all I am very happy :thumbsup:

I decided to start on the dash and lower hinge backup plate/ door retainer strap mounts that I milled out last winter



 
Paint and polishing look awesome!
 
Put the body back on the frame today.

I a good day working on the scrambler..............but long, 14hrs

Got the new grill mounted
the extra trans cooler plumbed
ac fit under the dash and all the lines fit and ready to crimp
ARB compressor mounted, switch's hooked up, and lockers tested
center gauges and radio wired
OTRATTW switches mount and wired
Engine compartment wire harness is layed out, sorted, and ready for loom and termination
maybe more............but I'm done





 
Keep up the good work, maybe have it together for Sandblast at Silver Lake in August?
 
Not a ton of updates, just more wiring and little details

but it is starting to look a little more Jeepish
