Hello everyone,
I am trading my restored 71 c10 pickup for a project 85 scrambler. I'm picking it up next weekend. It has a brand new 350 in it with a rebuilt t150. It needs wired, exhaust, brake lines, and the interior. It has a brand new frame and steel tub. New running gear. I am looking for some advice and ideas. I'm thinking about lowering it and throwing some low profile tires on it,!!! Haha I'm jk. It has a 3 inch body lift with 35 inch mudder's.

Welcome to the club!!!!

First rule is: it didn't happen if there aren't pictures!!! I don't know if this is because we are all visually built relics or just a bunch of cynics?

1985's are rare of the rare. What condition?

The guy I'm buying from says 85, but it doesn't come with a title. The tub is new so it won't have a vin. I'm hoping that there is still a Vin on the frame. The guy has had it for five years and haven't done anything to it. I'll try and figure out how to post a picture of it.

If it has a brand new frame, there will not be a VIN on it. Maybe he had a CJ7 and used it for everything from it and put it on the new frame and put the body on it. My first thought is the guy had a 70's CJ as a donor. T150 was never offered in the Scrambler era. It would explain needing exhaust, wiring, and brake lines as they would all need to be lengthened. As said, 85 CJ8's are rare.
Not trying to be negative, just stating possibility. Why did the seller say there is no title? A new frame and steel body are not cheap and the hardest and the most expensive items to replace which is good but no title certainly drops the valve a lot in most peoples eyes.

The guy has dumped over $28,000 Into it. He said he just wants something new. There isn't a title because he has just bought parts for it. Started with a frame from Mass. ($2800)The tub he ordered new. ($6800) he was going to throw in new Dana 44 Rubicon's with electronic lockers but is switching them out and putting it under his cj7 golden eagle. He is putting the golden eagle running gear under the scrambler. I have a bucket list of automobiles to own and a c10 is on it along with a scrambler. I'm hoping it all works out. What is a good wiring harness for the scrambler?

Go to post 11 in my build thread and it shows a pic of my vin as it was stamped on the top of the frame at the right rear wheel well. Just in front of the corner of the gas tank. Hope this helps

You might want to find a cheap Scrambler with bad body and frame to get the unique to Scrambler parts from. Hardtop, bulkhead, roll bar and support brackets, tailgate cable support brackets side mouldings and whatever else is good enough to use. By combining the two that could take care of your title issue. I have two CJ7s with 33s and 4" lift. One is narrow track and the other wide track. The 33s on the narrow track line up nicely with the stock fender flares. Usually I go with wide track but I like the look of the narrow with 33s. Maybe your 35s will look good with the narrow track. Nice that you have the new body and frame. I'm sure we are all anxious to see pictures of your project.

I was thinking of doing the junk scrambler idea, but with the love of scramblers I would feel bad just using one. Honestly how many of the 22,000 are still on the road, or being restored?

Bfoster I am in Franklin if you ever need a hand or some parts. I keep a few around here. I may be able to help you out on some of your issues with your build.

It is official. I got the scrambler. The Vin lines up as an 85 jeep cj8. I haven't figured out how to post pictures. I have some on my Facebook. I'm ready to start cranking on her. I already named her Annabelle
