Quonset building project (40' x 56')

Trying to get things a little back towards normal after dad's passing.
Keeping busy seems to help.
Got a crew together last weekend and got after it. Didn’t go as smooth as we’d hoped.
Getting a fully assembled arch up was the easy part, getting them bolted to each other proved to be quite the challenge.
We got 3 up the Saturday and only 2 Sunday. They say after 4 or 5 are up it gets easier, hope that's case!
That is going to be awesome once it's complete. :woohoo:

Doing the same thing with a 40x100 in Alabama. Ordered the kit, just waiting on delivery. Plan to make it half house and half shop. Love the pictures!

You putting yours up yourself ? If you have any questions message me for my #

There are also a couple pretty decent Facebook groups for Quonsets that I've found helpful.

I have definitely been following the 2 FB groups and they have helped me plan. Will be doing baseplates as well which I hope to concrete into place during the pour using J-bolts. Would love to get your number so will PM you. Biggest concern is unloading the kit at the moment. Plan on using a flatbed car hauler to pull it onto the flatbed and then slide it into a barn to keep it out of the weather. Want to pour a 6" slab before 31 Dec and then put it up sometime early next year. Plan to rent a scissor lift and do it in sections vs whole arches. Figure once it is up and dried in then I can take my time with the interior work. Want to move my 1500sqft shop first so we can sell our current property in about 3 years.

Are you planning for any overhang on either of the two ends? What are your plans for the ends? I am doing the shop end using the kit steel and rollup door. For the other side (house end) I plan to frame and then stucco. All of mine is DIY except for the pour. I have formed those up in the past so I may do that, depends on how the bids go. The last house I built was estimated for a lot of hiring but rarely got good bids so I did 95% myself which stretched out the construction over 5+ years. Still doing punch list 11 years later.

That does not look like fun. Lots of potential for pinched fingers…

Looks nice! How exciting for you. Do the posts stay in permanently or are they just for construction purposes?
