Too many words. Too few posts.

As I'm only in the very low 800's, I'll defer to the experts on Scrambler chat and other related or unrelated topics. However, it should be noted that the AMC factory never licensed an officially sanctioned forum, at least none that I could find in any of the early sales literature. Now, I've seen a few chats over the years, but it is my belief that most of those were one-offs and aftermarket add-ons. I did, however, discover what I believe to be an AMC thread while traveling the Himalayas in my 1964 Amphicar with his Holiness, the Dahli Lama. We were discussing the Mahindra Jeep line in India and the idiosyncrasies found when trying to swap the Nissan Diesel engine for a passel of marmots, when the Dahli mentioned that on a trip to Shanghai with Carmen Electra, he happened to come across a guy who used to work for AMC who was trying to restart the company in China. He had a Chinese-government-sanctioned blog about the venture, and as a former AMC employee, I had to assume this made it an officially sanctioned communication channel. Now, I've never seen said blog, nor have I seen a passel of marmots powering an Indian Mahindra Jeep, but after hearing it from the Dahli Lama, I have no reason to doubt that both do exist? It reminds me of when I was Jeeping across the Atlantic Ocean by driving around the deck of the Q.E.II in my successful attempt to circumnavigate the northern hemisphere without ever stopping for a bathroom break. I put a 67-gallon reserve gas tank in the back of my Scrambler (sorry, no pics as picture taking on the Q.E.II was strictly verboten), and proceeded to urinate into a series of drinking straws that I ran through the seatbelt mounting holes of the roll bar, down through the floor and into the tank. After three weeks at sea, I was beginning to wish AMC had factory-installed air fresheners in their Jeeps. As was the crew of the boat, who promptly through me and the Scrambler overboard. Luckily, I had had the tires overinflated before the trip, up to about 110psi, and that was enough to allow the Scrambler to float and I was able to use one of the OEM sideboards as a paddle, before it was eaten by ravenous sharks. Since I had one more, I took that off and was able to paddle to Scotland, where I resumed my journey.

So, no. I don't think this chat is sanctioned by AMC.

I am speechless Jambo. But note, that doesn't stop me from commenting. ;)

BTW, the French Scrambler, I believe, was marketed under the Jeep Scrambleur moniker. I had one of those rigs on a trip through Quebec where I was installing fiber optic lines for the Prime Minister's private chalet in the mid eighties. The only two or three differences I could find between the French version and our American versions was that the Scrambleur had a Scrambleur decal package, the entire rig always leaned way too far to the left, and the exhaust smelled like fromage.

Long live the Renault fuego. No lie no watercolor story but when I found my J-10 at a dealership it was traded into long-ago, parked outside were two Renaults both with under 500 miles just sitting there because they had never sold them. This was 2012. I've heard from many dealers too that those who refused to sell the renaults were the first to be canned when Chrysler took over.

I had a Jeep CJ-7 that came with a factory installed air freshener. I know this to be true because I bought it from a 89 year old man with one eye who didnt speak any English. Which reminds me of the time I bought a Slurpee and mixed 2 flavors together. Those were good times, eh?

All this FUN and no MM....who woulda thought??????!?!?!?!?!??! ;)

Perhaps just in spirit...

Which reminds me, does anyone think the glovebox lock from and AMC spirit would fit onto the gas cap on my Scrambler? I'm thinking that because it came from AMC, it would make sense for all locks to be the same, including the locks at the Panama Canal, dread locks and the Locks-Ness-Monster....

I know for a fact that the half blue ones do fit, but you have to hold your breath for seventy five seconds, so it will only work for large lunged individuals.
