My grandad flew B29's. There's only one of those left flying (Fifi) and interestingly enough, it was in Memphis one day when my grandad was at the airport. The crew took him up into the plane, and asked him if he wanted a ride. He thanked them but declined (was well into his 80's at this point).
Fast forward a couple of years, and my uncle (retired USAF, flew F16's and F117's among others) saw Fifi at another airport. After hearing that his father flew B29's during the war, the crew took him up and even let him take the yoke. He said it was like trying to fly a train. Said the idea of taking off in something like that with a full bomb and fuel load would scare the crap out of him.
Nothing like the old WW2 birds. Glad to see people are finally starting to appreciate them and value them.
Pretend there is a picture of a 63 or 67 j3000 factory duallie dump truck with the 327 engine here. Bought some stuff from the guy and forgot to snap a picture of it.
