Randyzzz Scrambler Restification Thread!

The little voice in my head is what got me divorced...lol

Yeah, those little voices are seldom up to any good.

A little more progress, got the stereo/satellite/navigation all hooked up. I can listen to my Hair Nation/Boneyard and watch where I'm going all at the same time. Too cool.

Also got the missing soft top brackets built, it fits great, although a little tight. I think soft tops shrink a bit when they sit for a couple years...I know the one on the Jeepster shrank too.

Starting to get the itch to build bumpers...

A few pics that aren't in the garage or on the driveway. Getting closer to a burnout/flex pic....

There's lots more work to do before she's "finished", then after a lot of driving, I'll see if any "upgrades" are called for.

LOL. Randy looks great. I have to say after owning a few jeeps
and building a few jeeps here and there as you know...
Can you really say you have ever "Finished" a jeep!!!!! lol
Those are the Little voices in my head! I think I've rebuilt
my 77 cj7 3 almost 4 different ways since my first official
complete build on it... And Those little voices are telling me
Links and LS for the cj7. But my voice of reason right now is
telling me to finish the wifes jeep first!LOL

Jeeps are NEVER finished... when I cross 1 thing off the list, 3-4 more get added on.

looking forward to burnout pics and video. get some sh!tty tires and wheels, burn em till they pop!!!

Soft Top

Randy,

Your soft top looks great! I really like the rear corner windows and how tight it looks. What brand is it?

Jeff

Jeff- it's an older Kayline top, I picked it up off of Craigslist last summer. If BD tops follows STC's patterns, theirs should look similar.

As far as the burnout...I got froggy and did a little power brake in the garage. They spun easily. I have a set of 2 BFG A/T's, same size, on American Racing 23 wheels, they look similar. Those are the ones I'll put on the rear to waste, although I should save 1 for a spare...

I have some RE springs on mine and they get the tires all into the rear body edge when the suspension is compressed. I've figured out that if the center pin on the main leaf was bout 3" forward, it'll get me about three more inches of wheel travel. So getting some new main leafs built for the back is one of my projects this winter-

You might want to take a look at yours flexed to see if you can do the same....

OOps! My pristine rear wheel well openings are no longer pristine. :eek:Playing a little last night, and the left rear tire compressed into the fender and "clearanced" itself at the back of the wheelwell... :rolleyes:I've got the flares back as far as they can go and I'm almost on them. I might have to look into moving the axle a bit forward myself. I think MORE made a plate to do that...

I did find an end for the drag link that might help keep it away from the frame, though...

And, the tie rod rubs the pitman arm at full compression too...found the rub mark while checking it out today. Looks like a bit of a steering redesign will be necessary down the road...since I was able to accomplish this in 2wd!!! I'm thinking move the box forward, or use the Rockstomper "behind the axle" D44 arms. The Rockstomper arms are pricey, but would solve a bunch of issues...and hopefully not create others.

I did get the lockers hooked up, and am rebuilding aCV driveshaft that I will lengthen to fit in the front.

I also found a fifth matching Centerline wheel on EBay!!! Gotta love a matching spare.

I have a MORE steering box bracket that moves the box forward that you need way more than I do.

I've got the "Big Daddy" mount, I'd be up for a trade! What's your time frame- I'll need to get the new mount installed before I could ship out the old one. The Scrambler has become my daily driver...
