Road Trip Coming

Need some input.... Overlander is going to need plates... Have any favorites?

Just seems right. :twocents:

Yes this is it. I agree

In other news, my overlander also has heavy duty springs sitting a couple inches higher than stock, a trussed 1 piece AMC 20 (bolt on kit) and a 36 gallon fuel Tank and it used to have dual batteries too. It was modified for 10km journeys in Western Australia by a previous owner.

The Postal had a beefier factory set-up, too. I always assumed that was for all the weight it carried, but now I wonder if they beefed them up factory for the weight of the top as well?

Mine is welded. Jersey's is bolt-on. So I have to think no?

Postals and Overlanders both have that little welded plate that is near the front of the back wheel well, welded to the frame. I think you're right. Haven't ever seen that on a regular CJ8 here.

I think thats a called a lower overload spring. If where looking at the same picture?

We call that a "helper"

And JJ although they are thirsty I didn't think a 10km journey required a long range tank ;)

What wrong? These things do get really bad gas milage. I dont see a problem .. [emoji14]

That's better. Any way 10,000 k that's like all the way round the island back to home. All good fun

Will the Overland make it to the Swap Meet this weekend?

Unlikely in this weather. It doesn't have a front windshield yet...

What time do you guys open on Friday?

OK. Slowly moving forward here... Have discovered a couple of missing vacuum lines (go figure!), a leak around a coolant intake that may take a new part, and I'm about ready to put in a windshield... Can anyone tell me who makes the best windshield gaskets? I'm hoping to only have to do this once... ;)

Oh and as payment for your time and opinion...

I haven't taken a close look yet, but I believe the plate was removed and then re-revitted back to the firewall NOT using the original holes. All of the numbers match, so it's original. but it looks like the overlap over the cutout on the right matches the lineup of the smaller holes underneath.

That's the right holes for the plate, the windscreen washer bottle was located just underneath. The two holes originally had a torx head bolt in them, not sure what was mounted it must be on the inside of the fire wall? (Just had a flick through old photos)

Thx, Buzz!

Nothing else mounts there. And weird that someone would redrill those holes and move the compliance plate (ADR Compliance we call that, Australian Design Regulation) and across the washer hose grommet hole too! Sheesh
