Hey all,

New to the site and Scrambler ownership. Growing up, the rural postal route used the Alaskan Postal Scramblers to deliver our mail and I fell in love with the vehicle. Fast forward to last week, and a deal came up that I couldn't pass up. It aint much right now, but for the money, it'll be an amazing project for me and my kids, and should be ready by the time they drive in 5 years.

So, here it is in all it's glory.

Looking forward to the build process!

Welcome aboard. Looks like a clean body with a twisted frame. You should start a new thread in the build thread area.(y)

What are you plans for it?

A nice mild resto...nothing crazy. The original engine is sitting on a pallet in the garage, but I'm unsure if I'll use that or repower it. First task will be sorting through the bins of misc hardware that came with it, then getting it rolling.

Somebody left the hood unlatched!!

Consider yourself ahead, everything's already disassembled and all you have to do is put it back together. Taking it apart is probably 1/3 the battle.

Figuring out what you have/don’t have and where everything goes is the other 5/3 of the battle :rotfl:

Congrats on the purchase!

Looks like a great start to an awesome project! Good luck and happy wrenching.

Welcome! And congratulations! You've found a good place with a ton of knowledge to assist willingly on figuring out all thos parts. This is a great group that enjoys helping out. We are extremely diversified. Knowledge abounds.

Thanks all for the kind welcome!

I'm now looking for a CJ-7 to cannibalize parts from and build it from there. The frame will be the biggest issue I can see...none of the body shop around here will touch it due to age.

Oh well. Time to go start that build thread!

Welcome! Are you from AK originally?

No, been in Northern AZ for the past 30 years. The PO here had 3 of the Postal Scramblers for their routes, and I was lucky enough to be on one of those routes. The driver would stop and let me check the vehicle out any time! Never found out where they ended up though...maybe I should sniff around and see if any of the old guys know where they went.

Congrats and have fun with it.
