Posting this in case anyone is interested in audio upgrades in your scrambler. Everything in my build is bolt into stock scramblers with 2 exceptions:
1. the head unit is single DIN but could be substituted with RetroSound unit
2. the stock alternator output may not support the additional draw on the system. I already replaced my in the build so I did not do the math.

Impressive. I've never even had a radio in my 8 so you've certainly got me beat. Nice.
 
Very nice setup. I started with a retrosound in dash head unit and ended up pulling this out and putting in a Bluetooth amp (ATOM P20) from Rockville. This way I have I ended up with a clean dash (no radio cutout) and put the amp in my console. I also run a Rockville sub (USS10) under the drivers seat. Rockville sounds good and priced right.

Sounds good and everything is hidden and ran through my phone.
 
Will be interested to see what quality the console/sub box ends up being. Need more pix...

I thought about going with a hidden head unit or retrosound. I ended up replacing all of the heating and AC and installing a restomod air system. This pushed me to get a custom dash from DoubleD fab so that I could cut in proper vents, auxiliary switches and the heat/ ac controls.

@TXJEEP, curious how this worked out/sound quality and all. Also curious how you like the SelectIncrements items.

I’ve been toying with the idea of some major audio overhaul and was going to go that route, but had the “previous-previous” owner reach out and he’s sending me seats and console free of charge. So I held off on IntraPod for now to see how this new console looks but still interested in some audio equipment that will rock when I want it to.

Guy before me tore all the audio stuff out other than a Boss head unit and one cheap magnetic speaker behind the seat.
 
I overhauled mine last year. I already had Boston acoustics components in the dash from original build; made the head unit go away completely and changed to a JL Audio Bluetooth only unit (got some storage back in my console); added (2) JL hexpods and a 10w6 behind the rear seat. It's really loud and clear. Only complaint now is the volume is on my phone and sometimes it doesn't have enough settings (a button push is too much or too little).

Thanks for the info. Yeah I can see how relying on phone button volume control could lead to that. The speakers I use around the house are the same way. With that being said, there’s something to be said for making good audio with as little parts as possible.
 
I am not yet live with this setup having the entire ride still in pieces. I ran into spacing issues behind and under the seats for speakers and amp. I lowered the seat brackets since I am 6'4" and wanted to feel like was in the Jeep instead of on it. I have decided to modify the bulkhead to house the amp and speakers. I will share more of this design as I progress. It should work out that the bulkhead takes some space out of the bed but no more than the depth of the roll bar down tubes.
 
Have to admit, I've missed tunes in my rig but didn't want to give up the dash space. Now I run a Bluetooth Milwaukee shop radio with zero wires and maximum portability. The batteries last for a loooong time and it's plenty loud to hear Hank Jr. playing even with the open top on the freeway. Just my .02
 
Yep, I’m still debating which route I want to go. I just put some Corbeau seats in with their “complete replacement” brackets and I’ve actually got a considerable amount of space underneath the seats now. The tradeoff is I’m about 6’4 as well, and it puts my head a little closer to the top. Part of me wants to leave that space open because it makes cleaning the thing out a heck of a lot easier. The PO put a unit in the dash and I’ve got the Select Increments centrapod that goes under the dash, but I’ve ruined the unit in the dash with moisture (let the floorboards get full of snow last winter and used a blower to get it out-don’t recommend) and don’t really want to replace it until I’ve decided which route to go. I like the idea of not having any audio equipment in the dash.
 
Yeah I think a Tuffy is the way to go. Protection from the elements and a little more work for a thief. Need to measure between these new Corbeaus and see which size I need. They seem a little wider than my previous seats.

Very well thought out, I love the diagrams... but, I REALLY love that custom dash! Just when I thought I was almost done.... :LOL: :thumbsup:

I’ve got Mastercraft seats. An 8” Tuffy works well.
