Shop addition 30' x 40' - Adams Family Scrambler World HQ

Guess I forgot to get pictures of the west end but I did finish installing head trim above walk door and 2 windows.
Had 2-9" strips cut from each side of one sheet of metal to finish out the west sidewall then installed the vertical corners on.
They laid in real nice. Still have the gable rake trim to install, waiting for some help on that (someone besides me to get on the roof, LOL).

The next major step, replacing the roof metal on the existing shop building. Started this on Friday morning.
This started of with a real bang and got me banned from roof duty (note, fat guy should not be on sketchy roof!)
I was working on removing the ridge cap, near the noted area when a rotten board decide to give way. This was before the metal was removed.
In an instant I went through the metal and a couple boards, somehow stopping before going completely through the inside shop ceiling.
Had I no stopped where I did, it would have an even worse landing as I would have been on top of the currently Scrambler project chassis.
I have several scrapes, a few bruises and some very very tender ribs.

Started on the backside as that I how the new metal was stacked (long to short). These back pieces are just shy of 31'
I knew we lots of bad existing purlins, so my plan was to remove any rotten ones and also place a new 2x next to them.
The next big issue, the 15' lean too had s significant belly in it so we had to do lots of shimming to try and get some of that out.
While we have the roof open we are adding another 6" of bat insulation to the original part of the existing shop.

Same as the addition roof, we are installing Therma Guard insulation over the purlins before putting metal on.

Right around half way complete with backside.. If I can round up some help, I'm hoping to get this side completed by the end of next weekend.
Helper (brother Clif) will be out of commission for awhile as he is having neck surgery (C5&6 disc replacement) Thursday.
I'm usually excited to go back to work on Mondays so I can rest. This week though will be to rest and hopefully heal up my ribs, LOL!

Good progress over my 3 day weekend. Again, back to work Monday to rest!
Finished up the roof on the old shop.

Started wall metal on the east wall. Got almost half way.

Hope to get started on replacing roof metal on front of old shop this week.

Finished up wall metal on the east end of addition.

Also the roof metal on the front of existing shop is complete.

Rake trim installed on east end of existing shop gable end.
Ran short on ridge cap to finish up the existing shop roof.

Got started on the rake trim on addition but the wind proved a bit much for 1 person & 17' long pieces.
That should finish up the metal work, then on to the garage doors to have it fully enclosed.

Looks good Jason ! A lot of progress over the last few weekends.

Waiting on some extra hands to finish up the rake/gable end trim.
Plus it's getting dark way to quickly after work now.

The overhead door trim with built in J channel, it's width was just a bit shy of totally covering the wood frame work.
Had some trim coil on hand so decide to cut and bend some to cover that up and give a nice surface for the garage door track to mount.
North door complete, turned out pretty good. Hope to do the same to south door this evening.

Your building is beautiful! That golden eagle hood would make a great awning for your service door.

Well, I could not leave well enough alone.
The garage door jamb trim around our main bay of the old shop was very seasoned and annoyed me with it's appearance.

So I decided to replace it. Glad I did as I found some rot from a leaky roof. Baffled that we did not have water coming inside in this area.

Rotten boards cut out and replaced. Thermaguard installed in area where I had to remove existing wall metal.

Door panels and track are in place. We are fully dried IN!!!!!
Still have to figure out upper track bracing on both doors, plus springs for the south door.

Temporary TV hookup so I could keep up with the weekends games.

Had a large piss elm tree taken out. It was already leaving a real mess on the addition.
We just had the tree crew get it on the ground and we cleaned up the mess.

We got the north garage door buttoned up other than an opener.

Now to figure out what we need to get the south door up and going.
Weighing it to determine torsions springs.

Access to the breaker box to start planning that phase.

Thinking pocket/barn door where the window is currently.

Are you planning on installing a sub panel off the existing panel, or a new feed-thru main panel where the the existing service comes in?

The old shop is now the sub-panel (200 amp). Everything for the new addition will tie into it as well, sitll plenty of space left.

Gotcha,
I assumed the existing panel was 200 amp by the size of the enclosure (panel) and the conduit feeding it.

Thanks for the link, (should have remembered it), love the "tugger".
