South East Fall Trail Ride Oct/Nov?

I will be coming with both of my daughters. Also have a friend itching to get his CJ-5 on the trail so he and a guest will be coming also. So that's a total of two vehicles and five people.

Right now Arrowhead Campground is wide open and that is where we will be staying. I enjoy having power for lights and heater plus enjoy the nice bath house they have there.

We will be arriving early afternoon on Friday.

If arrowhead is that open, let us know which spot you have and we can make reservations to get in around yours.

You ain't gonna be reversing on anything son! You won't need em!

watcha talking about?? reverse lights??? Mine have NEVER worked...

'sides.. Scramblers do Not back up.., except in dense forest trails..:p

I usually don't make reservations since you have to make them on line and there is a $9 charge per campsite reserved. That is expensive since the site is on $30 for the two nights.

Only time I had problems getting a site was during Easter Weekend, but luckily my club was going so I just tripled up with someone. Figure there is always trail side camping.

I figure

with halloween and all, that there won't be too much going on up there. Plus, seems that as the colder weather moves in there is not such a problem with too many folks wanting to camp.

I am planning on trying to leave the trailer somewhere... and stay in the bed-tent with my truck at Arrowhead....definately have to love the heated showers.

FWIW...I have been visiting nc4x4.com a bit lately. There are alot of folks on there that mostly ride at URE. They have been having alot of discussion on there about alcohol at URE. Evidently, having ALCOHOL in a national forest is illegal. This means on the trails, or at any areas there...including Arrowhead C.G. The reason that I bring this up is that the Rangers are getting adament about fining people that have alcohol on them or in their vehicles (some on that board have been fined).

I am not gonna rat anyone out, and I'm not concerned about anyone in our group drinking on the trails, but I just wanted to give everyone a "heads-up" to be careful at the campsite. :D

I hear ya FELNTPSY,
I think this is billed pretty well as a family outing anyway :)

I'm more, much more concerned about having coffee on hand :D
That & a campfire & smores & scrambler buds oh ya :D

camping

yes, I'd be more game for arrowhead with hot showers too.

Lee or anyone, can you call in spots there and reserve.. If so, put me in for one for friday night. Saturday night would be up in the air.

rear springs are out, rear sway bar removed, trackbar removed, shocks out, ALL without any broken bolts.. considering how rusty the underside even for a 97 this is.. was very surprised..

matt, great news on the TJ progress...

here's the info on the campground reservations:

To reserve a site:_ Call 877-444-6777 (toll free); TDD 877-833-6777; or visit the website at www.reserveUSA.com

oh, I thought we were camping along the trail, how much is this?

The sites are big enough that you can bunk up with someone else on the same spot if you just have a tent.

I'm convinced that there won't be that many people and you shouldn't bother with the reservation if you don't want to.

I think Arrowhead is $15 per night (and we'll only be doing the one night since you're crashing at my place on Friday :D)

well I don't know, someone said they are camping friday night now???

confused:

Depends on

how my progress is this weekend and through next week. I will be pushing it at this point to get everything finished, but I really feel like it will come together.

Matt, Depending on that, I might be interested in camping Fri. too.

ALSO...do we want to go ahead and try to reserve our spots?

Are ya'll looking at going to Uwharrie this weekend 10/23,24 or next weekend 10/30,31?

Here's a shot from there on 9/5/04.
