The beginning.. the end.... and a fresh start

Absolutely incredible detailed work.
We are enjoying watching your artistry at work.

Traveled to Wilbur by the Sea today to see Surfjeepzx's 8 today with some friends. R, very impressive build. Thanks for the walk-around. Yes, the work is top-notch. Keep at it; look forward to seeing it at Jeep Beach 2014 and other places. Great to meet a fellow 8 owner from this site.

Nice to meet you too. Wish the weather was nicer so I could have rolled it out in the sun.

And your Scrambler nice too. Next time we'll meet up when it's done.

Lets do some catchin up

Last week I met Toby (Mr Beep) and his bride while they were visiting here in Daytona. It was nice to put a face with the name and swap some Jeep stories. We'll have to do it again next year.

Since I last posted I've made some progress.
* I bought a pair of side steps, refinished and mounted them.
* I've completed the wiring under the hood.
* I bought a power brake assembly from a YJ which included the master, booster, and bracket. I refinished that and mounted it today. I just need another body to help me bleed the system through.
* I've been working on polishing up more of my stainless stuff and getting that mounted.
* I just received the shift boot today so now I need to mark and mount the nut plates around the tunnel and cover plate. That's my next little project.
* Also working on finishing the body work on the dash panel which involved welding in holes and cutting new ones for the tach and clock, straightening out the workbench so it looks like the tailgate, and welding in a bunch of holes and removing the stub pipes left from the P.O. on the rollbar.

Here's a bunch of pics

I'll include a bunch of close ups of the brake conversion because I know I'll get asked so here they are. It was very straight forward with some minor tweaking of the brake lines and a couple of adaptors.

One thing I just noticed that made me cringe was the hood laying up on the windshield frame.
I know how much time you spent on that... ever think of using a hood lift system?
I have them on 2 of my rigs and I love them... they go up and stay up and you don't run the risk of hte wind slamming into your windshield frame!

Here is the CJ5 with it on back a few years ago.

Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow. Wow.

I had not looked at this thread for awhile, and started at the beginning for a second time. I have to say, its just about as painful as the first time I went through it. Honestly…those shorts, painful, painful painful.

I don't normally do that but it was a dead calm day and I placed a towell on the windshield frame. I may consider one of those systems in the future though.
