Hey folks just a question that might bring a smile to your face (Christmas is just around the corner and who doesn't love Brown Santa). I have my most needed / loved item and I was wondering what you folks thought. Now it can be from the smallest hand tool to a full blown paint booth.

Telescopic Magnet on a stick, that thing has saved me more than few times for routing round in engine bays (and engines themselves) retrieving dropped items.

My reading glasses! (3.0 power for working on the jeep) They are critical for me doing any detailed work on the Scrambler. Now that I am in my 60's, I have developed CSS Disease. (Can't See Shit Disease) That goes along with CRS Disease. (Can't Remember Shit Disease)

Headlamp comes a close second.

Yep, first time I realized I needed reading glasses I was trying to reinstall a brake light switch on my old CJ7, on my back, propped up on some wood(on the floor boards)with my legs on a trash can( my brother took a picture of me like that, wish I could find it). I couldn't figure out why I couldn't see what I was doing 8" from my face

The JT Brooks Pro adjustable tire deflators.

I got these for review in the magazine and did a series of tests/checks of the dialed setting and the resulting PSI and they work GREAT. I hate using anything else for deflating now. The lock ring and built-in scale work great.

I am someone who abhors the idea of pulling valve stems over and over to deflate, never liked that idea at all on a fundamental level as those are not made to be removed/installed over and over, so these are utter perfection IMO.

For working on the Jeep, this is my answer. I fell into this for free from work (as a free marketing sample no one else wanted, not stolen!), but I would have bought one had I known how much I would use it. Pricey, but worth every freaking penny. The heat shrink tube labeling is KILLER for doing clean wiring.

I have like three of different sizes in the garage, these are indispensable and I carry one in the Jeep.

Oh man, so many. . .

But in the "dark horse" category, it's probably my telescopic inspection mirror.

Runner up is big surgical forceps. Gets into lots of places, holds tight - like 14" long needle nose pliers, but more dainty, and way easier to keep closing pressure.

Love this thread! The only thing I don't have is the label maker and I have a different inflator.

Well some really cool answers. The one tool that after I use it I think to myself "my god that would have been a ball buster" My Skat blast cabinet. I think of all the pieces and parts that I have brought back from the grave with that thing. Not the biggest (40") but takes nearly everything I need.

I have one I was just looking at. Haven't done anything but look at it since I bought it 25 years ago(sad I know). Not have a shop sucks.

I bought the label maker after you told me about it. Use it on everything.
