This one is for the wife

I also used a front right YJ plate on the front right, and a rear right spring plate on the front left.

The problem I have is, I attached my sway bar to what used to be the shock stud on the rear plate, but that shock stud hangs down lower than the sway bar mount on the other side. This exacerbates my "Jeep lean" considerably.

Now I've bought a front left YJ spring plate, that I'm going to weld up and re-drill. I've been sitting on that project for a while now... I should probably hurry up, and get to it. ;)

My links are just hanging in that picture. Just got back to the shop, and yes, they are def different heights. Didn’t even think about that. I was originally thinking of doing the same with the yj spring plate, but my landlord has not run my 220 yet. I guess she will be on jack stands a little longer until I find a neighbor to bum some power from. Thank you for the heads up

Hey folks. So, I have not made a final decision on the drivetrain yet (leaning towards a 4.0/aw4), so I figured I should at least do a compression test on the 4.2 just to see if its at least good or bad. I know ideal is after warm up, but just wanted to see if any cylinders were really low. I have always based my findings on 10% range, but I see different folks online discussing the 4.2 say within 20%. If it is really 20%, I would just squeak by, but not if it should be 10%.

150 / 165 / 140 / 175 / 155 / 145

I will need to do some more digging and see what percent is correct, but may wore it up and see how she does until I find a donor.

I will do a leak down test and also a compression test after being warmed up at some point.

Finished up a few small projects this morning. New Borgeson steering shaft painted and installed and got rid of the drop pitman arm and install a stock flat arm. Finished mounting the rollbar. We just painted the feet and hardware for 2 reasons. 1) I did not want to mount a rusty, crusty roll bar against the freshly lined floor 2) Eventually we will repaint the roll bar when we do the exterior. It may stay this way a while tho. This wife likes the idea of not worrying about minor bumps and bruises here and there, just use and enjoy it

Getting ready to install a painless harness. Figured now was the time to sort out the dash. While cleaning off the adhesive from the gauge cover I took off some paint so I decided to repaint the dash panel. I was super stoked how good it turned out, but unfortunately is a shade off. Waiting on paint to arrive to I can repaint it.
In the meantime, decided to get the rocker moldings cleaned up. I started with 120 grit then 240/400/600/800/1000/1500/2000. The worst part was getting the old paint and/or coating off. Took about 3 hours start to finish to do one side. Hit it with a quick polish to see how we did. I may see if I get them powdercoated with clear.

Been super busy at work lately, so not a lot of garage time. Found a few hours today to swap the drag link and tie rod out for something a bit beefier. I also went moved them on top of the knuckle.

Ok, the dash kicked my ass for no good reason. First paint job came out perfect, but color looked brownish compared to PK1 blk. Bought Mopar PX8 blk which looks to be same shade, but paint did not lay down smooth, even with what I consider to be perfect prep work. So, sanded with 600 then 1000 grit and wrapped in gloss 3M blk vinyl. Came out great and it is only temporary until we repaint in a year or two. Not sure what we will do with the speaker cut outs since we will be running a sound bar like we have in the Bronco, which we love. One of the previous owners drilled some holes for some after market speakers anyway, so it will need to be addressed anyways. Before and after shots of the dash. The last shot is from under the scrambler tracking down a leak in the dana 300. Just thought it was a cool shot of the Bronco.

Fixed leaky shift seal. Was able to get it from the top. Starting the painless kit now. Probably will not have a ton of extra time for the next 2 weeks, so I will just do a few hours here and there when available. Hope to fire it by the end of the month.

I think everyone on here has said this at least once if not several times! This hobby is good therapy to get away from things and focus on something you want to see done by your hands. Looking good and thanks for posting progress.

Its def the only thing I do where I can forget about everything else going on. And thx! More to come hopefully soon.

Haven't touched mine in months :banghead:, you're doing GREAT! :smokin:

Got in a little time today. Finished dash wiring harness, the rear harness with new taillights and some of the engine compartment. Love the painless kit. Super easy to install. Installed the AC compressor and temp mounted alternator since powermaster should be here this week. Closer to firing. Working on Jeepair kit and other odds and ends next.

Hopefully, get some garage time in this weekend. In the meantime, picked up my steps from the powdercoater along with a grab bar. Also, found out a couple of weeks ago my landlord as not going to be able to put 220 in my garage after all. Started to research the possibly of using a portable generator. A couple of guys on youtube have been testing HF predator units (9k and 13k). Obv, the 13k would be the best option, but a buddy of mine practically gave me his 9k predator. Tested it out last weekend and worked great. I really only weld a couple times of month, so this will do just fine for now.

Fixed the transfer case leak with a new Novak cover. Was getting ready to fix the transmission pan gasket leak and noticed a leak coming from in between the trans and adapter housing so xcase and adapter is coming out next to fix that. One of the previous owners stripped out the threads in the frame for the crossmember pan for 2 of the bolts and popped the weld on another. So on the right side he or she used the one remaining bolt and added 3 aluminum siding screws. Same with the other side. Who does this stuff?
