What a couple of us did this weekend. It was a great weekend, other than we got skunked in the raffle drawing.

We had several other Scrambler owners in attendance, but but only one other, Pat Shepard had his Scrambler there. Others there were Truck, Mike Werner, Doug Smith and Rusty Fridell. The weather was fantastic with one rain shower Saturday morning to keep the dut down and make one hill climb pretty interesting. There were 240 registered vehicles, our group was only 6 on Friday and 9 on Saturday, so we were able to move. They spread the groups among 17 different trails and all followed a loop pattern to keep separated, it worked pretty well.

nice... sorry I didn't get to make it to this. Got to get used to looking at pictures of Oak Ridge instead of going. :banghead:
 
My understanding, there was this Scrambler guy who had his name drawn for a set of tires, too bad he sold his spot and didn't show up. :rolleyes: Oh well, glad those that showed up an enjoyable time.

Hey, once I donned my new pink superlift hat. I won a certificate to the PA Jeep show in York. Includes 2 nights hotel stay, 2 event shirts, 1 dash plaque (you know how I love those things:rolleyes:), 10 Raffle tickets and 1 goodie bag. I think that was a pretty good win.

PS. I got to drive Robert's Scrambler and even crawled up CJ5 hill...thanks Robert I had a great time.

Yes, we had a great time. AND, Yes, I spoke to THAT GUY right after they gave those tires to someone else. I THINK his initials were smoething like "EK"....
 
That WAS a great time. Glad we got to support United on their first Wheel-In. Our small group got to cover a lot of trails without the usual "sit & wait".
I'd like to hear a band critique from Mike & Rusty. Wish they had started to play earlier.

Had a great time...nice to see all of you, as usual!

(Sung to the tune of "Have a Cigar," by Pink Floyd:) "The band was just fantastic, that is really what I think. Oh by the way, how much do I owe you for your share of the room?" (on Saturday night I took the empty bed you left!).

Ok, seriously, the band WAS fantastic. They played everything from Patsy Cline to Led Zeppelin. They were called Mo Debree and I wouldn't hesistate to take the better half out to see them locally. Here's their website, and you can click on the "songs" tab to hear some samples of their music:

Really sounds like it was an ideal time. The tiedwater run was always great, but the groups got big and we seemed to do a decent amount of waiting around... so this seems like it was perfect.

No carnage to speak of?

In our group, the worst we did was roll a tire off the rim on a TJ, the other guide's (I was a guide, too).
There were the usual broken axles, here and there, and a lifted XJ on 36's rolled hard.
 
Did you reseat it on the trail or swap in a spare? Where was he and what was he up to when it happened???

I don't know what the XJ was up to, other than the pictures looked like he was climbing in some rocks. If you go to the U4WDA web site forums, you can see some threads and pictures from the ride and other groups.

music review

sorry for the slow response - the band was very good - high-personality female singer, fun song selection, and cool, starry night! Definitely should have started earlier, but a nice addition for these types of events. All around best weekend I've ever done at Oak Ridge. (Any ideas on getting the red mud out of my Rubicon cloth seats would be most appreciated - I've scrubbed the heck out of them w/o success.) BTW - my train horn installation on the Scrambler is complete and very cool! Rusty

Try Resolve carpet cleaner. It may take several applications but should work.
Can be purchased at any grocery store.
Thanks for the band review. I looked at their website & you can sample several different songs. They appear to be (more or less) the house band for The Tobacco Co.
