I purchased my this 1982 Scrambler in 2008 from Rudy in Ohio. We were living in Rocky River, OH at the time. I used it as a daily driver for one year while I was completing training at Cleveland Clinic. We moved back here to West Virginia in fall of 2009. Again it was my primary driver at the time. I added two rows of seating for my kids and their friends. Modified a JK rack and added a soft top.
Late in the year of 2011 an electric fire behind the dash caused me to park it. I felt it was time for a full frame off restoration. Inspired by the builds I read on this site, I started tear it down and developing a plan.
I was fortunate to come across a fellow scrambler owner, Woody, who worked at 4wd hardware in Columbiana, OH. His scrambler was always featured in the company's sales catalog. He helped me develop a plan in regards to the jeeps stance, axles, and gears.
The order was placed. I sent my frame off to powder coat, as well as, other parts. As parts returned I started work on the chassis.
