What's your Career?

Police Officer from 2001 until July of this year.....left to work as the Primary Firearms Instructor for the local Police Academy training new recruits to shoot the Glock 17 and Remington 870. Been a firearms instructor for the past 5 years for the PD and part time for the acadmey while working as a cop.

After graduating from Georgia Tech in 2001 as a Civil Engineer I worked as a field engineer for Gilbert Southern Corp (Kiewit Southeast now) working on a 10 mile long, 18' diameter, tunnel project in north Atlanta.

I moved on to work as a project manager for a convienience store and gas station chain, then a project engineer for a large general contractor, then a project manager and estimator for a small heavy civil construction company in Atlanta, then an estimator for a larger heavy civil contractor in Atlanta.

Now I am a senior estimator/project manager/area manager for a smaller heavy civil contractor in Aiken, SC working at the Savannah River Site DOE facility. On a positive note, I now own my CJ-8 AND a garage to store it and the extra parts in...yay for me!

I am the equipment manager and lighting specialist for the Harlem Globetrotters. Also on the call back list for UPS Freight.

Whoah, cool! From AZ? So you travel a lot? That's got to be a cool business card!

Lucky enough to have graduated college studying two cool subjects: environmental science and chemistry. Have worked in paper research, electroplating and coating factory, advanced materials lab (polymers and metals), and most recently pyrotechnic development. I have been privileged to run, develop, and fix scientific instruments that satisfy my inner geek on a daily basis.

Before those jobs I worked almost any job that would pay the bills: pharmacy stockboy, camp counselor, lifeguard, homebrew sales and beer line cleaner, retail clothing sales.

Graduated from Temple University in 1985 . Only reason i brought this up is Temple football is 4-1 and this may never ever happen again:huh: . Have sold and serviced cardiac pacemakers and implantable defibrillators for the past 18 years . Am good with this kind of stuff , but you would want me to stay away from your jeeps electrical system if you ever want it to work again :rotfl:

Started out wanting to be an architect, then got exposed to the early days of mini & micro computing (no hard drives, 8" floppies) during a summer engineering program at NJIT while I was in junior high. Went to work for a now defunct major computer leasing company after college and worked my way up from an entry-level refurb & test position to R&D after relocating to IL. Realized that I had pretty much run my course with them and had an opportunity to move into corporate IT with a start-up retail energy company, so I moved on and eventually became the IT manager there. They imploded in the wake of the Enron & Arthur Anderson scandals and I was picked up by one of the parent companies which was the local gas utility. VERY strange & political place and I eventually ended up on the outs with them working rotating shifts doing trained monkey work as they were trying to drive me to quit. I had my exit interview on April Fool's Day 2008. Headed off to my current postion in OH as IT manager and sales guy for a small e-recycling company (we actually shred/recycle, not ship stuff off to China and the like) where I happily am today.

I became a volunteer firefighter at 16, still active in that role 10 years later, as a lieutenant and EMT-Cardiac now. Graduated with a degree in Fire Protection Engineering, and have been working for 4 years as an engineer at a firm that provides regulatory fire protection consulting to the nuclear power industry.

My fleet aircraft was a CH-53D Sea Stallion. Currently at HMX-1 flying CH-53E's, then on to VH-3D's and VH-60N's.

Cool thread. I have 20+ years in the fire service. Started out as a firefighter :evil:and then went into fire dispatch where I still serve in the capacity of Lt. (shift supervisor). I come from a long line of farmers and loggers. My wife and i live on a few acres in the trees in Eastern Washington where we entertain several big dogs, some horses and occasionaly grandchildren. I like old trucks especially jeeps. I don't have many fabricating, or wrench twisting skills and I am constantly amazed, humbled and even inspired by what folks here are doing. :bow:Tons of info and just good entertainment. Great site.

Well I have been a Machinest from 1979 - 1997 I then worked as a factory rep. at the largest cutting tool co. in the world for 11 years. Now I own my own Machine Shop and we do a little Sandblasting. I LOVE it its a lot of work but I am home every night with my family. THANK GOD.

I graduated from Texas A&M in Dec. 2008 with a double BBA in Accounting and Management Information Systems, spent a few months hanging around college station working for a small CPA firm (something i thought i would never want to do). Didn't get along with the office manager/ owner's wife and found a better gig back home in Katy. been here since then. its been a real interesting experience dealing with a broad client base and getting to see how to run a successful business and how to lose money really really fast.
