1985 White Scrambler stolen.

Sadly, two nights ago.... my 1985 White Scrambler was stolen in Denver, Co. It had a red canoe on top.

Bummed out in Denver...

So sorry to hear that, good idea on posting any photos so people can be on the lookout locally and on Craigslist/eBay/etc.

I moved your thread to the ScRamblings foum so more folks can see it.
 
Definitely pics! Also, hit the other boards like pirate4x4, jeeps unlimited, etc. Some of these sites are active all over the country and more. If there's any good thing about this is the fact that it's an 8 and not so easy to fly under the radar. If it was a 7 it might be a lost cause. I don't think there's a larger group all over the country than us that's so in tune with the Scramblers and If we all keep an eye out for this we might just find it. Good luck and God's speed.
 
Sorry to hear about your loss. Here in Arizona we've had quite a few jeeps stolen so about 25 of us got together and installed kill switches. It is easy to do and offers excellent security. Hopefully you get your jeep back and when you do, put a kill switch in it. If you (or anyone here) has any questions just shoot me an email jfw@asu.edu

First, I feel your pain, lost 1 myself, 1972 Renagade with 11,340 miles on it.

That really sucks, I live in Thornton area and work down south by Centennial airport, I drive the I-25 corridor I'll keep my eyes open. can you post some pictures. I will also post something on the Colorado site. Where was it parked when it was stolen. Also PM me your vin number in case if anyone spots it. Todd

so sorry to hear that, I hope it is recovered intact. I would suggest also contacting all the jeep shops in teh metro area, places like Mile High jeep rebuilders and the place out in Erie do a lot of business in used parts and they might be approached to buy some.

Stolen Cj-8 in denver

Folks thanks for all your kind words and support. The police found my White Scrambler in South Denver this morning. Other than a "Jacked" ignition and missing stereo, all is well!!!!

What a great story and happy ending! The ignition and stereo are a small price for getting the CJ8 back. It reminds me of the time in 1989 when my Scrambler was burglarized, because I left the doors unlocked. The thieves stole the radio, rear-view mirror, cigarette lighter, and broke the lock on the center console to gain access. I was PO'd at the time, but later happy that I had left the doors unlocked, or I might have been buying a new expensive soft top. To this day, I don't lock the Jeep or the center console, and the CJ remains without a radio. Though, I did buy one of those steel bars that locks the steering wheel to the pedal and later installed a battery kill switch.

I long for the day when I am fortunate enough to catch someone burglarizing my Jeeps or anyone elses vehicle (Smilie holding a baseball bat). It's so disrespectful to take from others what those others have worked hard to possess.

That's awesome! Congrats!

Long ago I got a used Grant steering wheel because I was too big to squeeze around the monster stock thing. When I got the Jeep running well and started really driving it around without any top/doors, I got the Grant wheel removal security kit:

So now a thief would either have to tow the Jeep, or use a giant pipe wrench to try to steer it. I just wanted something to keep the easy-target guys away and make them really work.

You get real funny looks walking around carrying your steering wheel, but I look at it as a conversation starter ;)
