This is my 6th or 7th scrambler. I've missed all of them. Some became organ donors & some lined my pockets when I was done with them. I'm keeping this one for the long haul. Not sure what direction I'm going. I will do some minor work and enjoy it while I make plans. More than likely it will get a 360, gm 5.3L or a 4bt. Other than minor surface rust this one is in great shape. Actually the most solid one I've owned. I hope my 84 cj-7 and 86 cj-7 won't be mad.

Come again?

What are your plans with this one, I'm looking forward to seeing what you end up doing with it!

meaning I made good money when I sold them. At least I thought I did! maybe I just got part of my money back.

I'm likely going to tear it down and do a frame off. Just might wait a year or so to do it. Working on plans now. I've got some work to do on my 84 cj-7 before I get too deep into this one.

Looks purty darn solid to me.

Have fun.

Congrats. wish my new one was that solid. Mine will definately be a frame off... not much of a frame left :(

Thanks!
Had a good set of 31" bfg at's on aftermarket rims recently removed from my 86 cj-7. Put them on, fixed a fuel leak, replaced blown fuses, fixed dash lights, fixed blinkers, fixed running lights, replaced the battery tray, replaced the battery terminals, replaced the firewall to battery ground wire, replaced some dash light bulbs, replaced the defrost indicator lamp, secured the upper hardtop strip to the top, replaced a split vacuum line, reinstalled tire carrier, mounted spare...

Removed the cobbled together stereo, amp, center console speaker type thing, all the non-factory wiring...

Paid the property tax, registration, got a tag and insurance.

It has fresh motor I expect to need a few kinks worked out.

Drove it today for the first time.

Nice!

Looks like a nice find. Congradulations!

Scramblers in that good of shape are getting harder and harder to find.

Look forward to following the build.

Here is a picture from today. Made a good deal of progress. I'll enjoy it for a while and plan for a engine swap in the near future. I've got the re'maned 151 running well for now.1983 CJ-8 026.jpg1983 CJ-8 024.jpg1983 CJ-8 023.jpg

Fond memories indeed. As a matter of fact I can recall some nights we wrenched on yours when we were younger. Thanks Matt. To be honest I wasn't sure I'd ever be able to work on them again. I make it a priority now. Probably shouldn't but...
