Well actually started getting ready for the rebuild today. Oh actually started a couple of months ago stripping the bedliner out of the rear, but don't really count that. Got the cash moved around this week and started by picking up a complete front axle NT with the warn lockouts and larger brakes, but most importantly the 3.54 gears I wanted. Also picked up a rear AMC20 NT housing with the 3.54 gears. Have a buddy in the jeep club who will help me swap the guts and brakes to my WT axles. Also got a t5 to swap in place of my T4 and a few misc interior pieces including a locking glovebox. Not a bad deal price wise either I think. Tomorrow I take it in to get the new tires put on (old ones are dry rotting and don't really trust them heading in too much).

Plan to spend the weekend finishing moving the rebuilt 4banger into the 98TJ and getting it running so I can clear the garage out and start pulling the Scrambler apart.

Hauled an engine hoist in to pull the motor off the new TDK frame I got last year. I've just changed the ring and pinions on the Waggy axles - now it's time to get serious about the frame swap.

More carnage today. Finally gave in and drilled out 7 of the 8 bolts holding the windshield frame in place. I think the frame is probably too roached to use anyway - easy to say when you have another one that's cherry.

Also dropped the dash loose to begin tagging and disassembly there, but that's a job for another day. Anyone have a recommendation on tagging material? My first thought was the old standby masking tape, but I'm concerned it won't hold up moving things around. Suggestions are welcome!

I tweaked the carb and messed with a few other things. Then took the top and doors off and gave the wife and kids rides through the neighborhood. It was 68 here today.

Wife and I took the Scrambler to the Barrett Jackson Auction yesterday. We saw some fantastic cars, and a few cool Jeeps. One of my favorites at the show was this 58 Dodge. It was in one of the charity auctions and sold with the Cessna in the background for 850k.

Not a huge fan of this look for a JK but the paint finish on this thing was pretty cool. Some sort of Kevlar??.

I just used masking tape and a Sharpie. It worked good.

I'm sure that would have been just fine. At the risk of sounding like Heloise, I did some arts & crafts to make markers:

I cut these tags out of a milk jug. Here they are in play:

As you can see, I've worked my way over to the speedo. Anything I need to be careful of while disconnecting it?

Only one casualty today, pulled the face off of the wiper/washer light. Looks like I may be able to superglue it.

Got this from trying to remove a stuck bolt on a leaf spring. But I did end up getting the axles painted and the frame welded.

Not in a scrambler but in an 83 CJ. Today more work on a custom heat and air cond install. Parts from vintage air but everything else needs to be fabbed, lines brackets wiring etc. these folks make hot rod and classic car kits but this unit getting one to fit under the CJ dash will be a fun challenge.

Would love to see more of this. Does that line clear the headlight bucket?
