TrebleHook's 1983 Scrambler Laredo

Black on black looks great! What's your plan with your roll cage? More specifically, will you have a roll cage that you can use with a half top and take on and off?

I've asked that they add gussets to the stock roll bar for strength and build the rest off that. I want to try to keep the classic lines as much as possible - or at least some reference to them. I have no need for the half cab, especially with the 2nd and 3rd row seating installed - the conversion back to half cab would be a major PITA.

It'll be tied into the frame (sandwich plates to avoid cutting the tub) using Genright tie-in brackets with the bushings for some give. The fabricator uses gussets on EVERY bend so that's great. He believes that using the gussets without the holes in them will tone-down the look a bit. Their welds are amazing.

IF IF IF we have to cut the dash pad - I'm pulling my cherry one and using a "lesser" cherry one from Jeeprdd.

Some pics of a sample/inspiration work from the fabricator below....we'll tweak it to match the Scrambler (looks, lines, functionality)....and it's going to be SWEET!!

Cheers,
Dylan

At the Fabricators!

Dropped it off with the fabricators today. Chaos Fabrication, Winchester, VA. 4-hour round-trip with the Scrambler on a trailer. Worth the drive...and a beautiful day for a drive in the Virginia hills.

Met with owner and his crew. I was very very impressed with the attitude, knowledge and excitement of all the guys who will be working on it. They clearly know their stuff, understand my intent, and love that it's a Scrambler.

I'll post up updates/pics when I receive them!

Cheers,
Dylan

Great looking build. And that baby boy is gonna like that scrambler one day.

On another note, what rear bumper did you install? Did I miss the name in the build?

WooHoo! Congradulations!!!

What's his name? Everyone doing well?

I think you should have a heavy package show up today, too....

EDIT, 3:10 PT
FedEx just sent an exception report, the heavy package requires a signature, so you're going to have to wait until Monday for that delivery. Somehow I think you'll have your hands full over the weekend, anyways...and for years to come!

Carter William. I tried for Carter Jefferson...ahem CJ...but momma caught on.

Mom and baby doing great!

Grandma at the house missed the Fedex by 4 minutes. I'll get it Monday for sure!

Dylan

Quick trip (3.5 hours each way...tunnel traffic-ugh!) to Portsmouth to pick up the hard top. Pretty good condition. Needs a little love but generally not abused. Now...need to decide of I want to keep it!

Great! Looking for the story as well as I might use them to build a cage.

That looks real nice Dylan
Friend of mine is having a cage built there also and sent me this pic last night

It doesn't look like you're missing that add-a-leaf yet.

Awesome cage! Did you purposefully slant the rear to accommodate a super top?

I owe credit where credit is due here. The winch arrived just prior to the baby...so it got shorted on credit here on the forum. This AMAZING refurbished 8274 was the work of Randyzzz. He really went above and beyond with this thing. It's basically new and I can't even imagine how much time he spent polishing it. It's truly a piece of art...that happens to also be a TOTALLY bad *** piece of machinery. Much thanks to Randy for the hard work. It arrived on my doorstep in a crate that was evidence of the care he took building it...and had a nice note to boot!!
