Colorado Bound Scrambler

I am sure you figured this out but they are very different animals. I have two Cj's and a 78 waggie. Love 'em all but they are different. Which I guess seems obvious but when you are used to running around in your Scrambler the Waggie will feel like a boat. I am making this comment without any information on the Wagoneer but unless it has been redone you should be getting cash and the Waggie for your scrambler.

There are other options... [emoji41] But making the current engine appear "newer" would be my advice.

Find out how much it went for so you can start building your market reference guide in your head, give yourself a head start at the negotiation stage when you find one you like. Just thinking out loud...

Yeah I've been watching asking prices and sale prices on eBay and Craigslist.

Did you confirm for sure you cant get yours to pass? or keep it somehow?
Rule says engine swapped in must be of equal or newer year to be a legal swap. Can't get a test without the form that tells what engine to run the test on. I don't really know any ways to cheat the swap rule and keep the engine in.

Doesn't a '75 sbc look like an '84 sbc. I doubt they would check block #. Maybe they would, IDK. I am just glad I do not have to deal with CO or CA emissions stuff.

Swap inspectors are no pushover, and quite thorough. Not only will they check the block numbers, but they'll also make sure you have the correct air pump, carburetor, computer, etc... that should have come with that motor. Don't know of anyone ever being able to fool them (and getting caught intentionally cheating can get you in pretty serious trouble).

Just one more reason not to live in Colorado or California. Beside, most of the people who moved into Colorado to make it like it is came from California.

It's the same reason I can't live in Pennsylvania. If I did , I would still make my primary residence NJ. We have a lot of issues here in NJ but one thing that great is our vehicle inspection laws and loopholes and leniency.

Yes PA sucks also. Technically federal law also says must be same year or newer with correct emissions for engine. But who enforces EPA rules?

OK- I used to sell rebuilt engines when I ran a Pep Boys. We'd order an engine, and by the serial numbers, the engine we got might be older or newer than the year we ordered. The cam, exhaust manifold bolt pattern, and dipstick location were the biggest things that differentiated year. So...If you take a 1976 350, and put a 82 intake, carb, exhausts, ect, the inspector would have a hard time proving that the engine wasn't rebuilt to 1982 specifications. Just sayin...

Is this what the world has come to? LMAO In Louisiana if your car stops, the tires look good and the gas cap doesn't leak, you're pretty much good to go.

NY is just a safety inspection. 25years and older.

At least we have that going for us in Colo... we don't have a safety inspection for non commercial vehicles. If I wan't to drive a car with bald tires and no brakes, the state is okay with it (just gotta be insured).

Waiting to hear..... Hope all is going well with last few days before the birth of your future jeeper Chase.
z

Scrambler update: buying myself some time by "selling" my Jeep to my dad back in IL via sending him the title in the mail... He is going to mail me the new plates under his name. Presto change-o I just bought another year to get a replacement Scrambler/Waggy or an engine swap while diving it on legal IL plates. (Since I'm a CO resident now I could get hit with some fines if I just left the plates in my name).

Baby update: **que-Europe: the final countdown chorus** He could join us any day now. I know my wife is ready to be not pregnant! I can't say that I blame her. She's looking pretty uncomfortable. I'm ready to meet him too... And show him how to be a little Jeeper and an outdoorsman and a gentleman!

Great idea. Now you can take your time and figure this out.
