Next job is make a mount for the transmission, grind that lip on the pan and then see if the body tub still fits and clears this little lot!.
Can maybe get the engine mounts welded up and move on a little then, hopefully next update will be a bit sooner as well, work has been keeping me busy helps pay for all this though i guess!

Oh
Can you clock the transfer case lower (may have to cut/fab the skid plate) to allow you move travel with the drive shaft.

I’m sure you’ve read plenty of times that a 241C passenger drop gives a lot more clearance. I’m running one on mine with a 4L80E and I have plenty of room. It does hang down a bit lower- if I was to clock it up there would be even more room. Something to consider.

If i clocked it lower (which is where AA designed it to go) then as the yoke arcs downwards it sits more in to the pan than ever!
I would need to fabricate a whole new side on the pan and then trim the filter in the transmission down its that close.

I have Randy but my location means availiabilty is next to nothing without shipping one across, i did consider using the transfer box the Blazer came with that drops on the other side and finding a YJ axle but i am trying to keep the 8 slightly original and the stories on the front disconnect on the YJ axles put me off. plus its different bolt patterns etc, etc.

Atlas can give you a bit more clearance, but at $$$$$.

Used the original transmission mount rubbers, even though i could of done it in solid steel as the Advance Adaptors mount has rubbers built in but i needed a spacer and the original mount handily measured just about right for the spacing i needed.
Its not centralised on the mount and hangs a little bit too far to the right for my liking, but i dont think it will go anywhere and will maybe need to make something better if need be later should it cause me any issues.
Just need to shim up the torque bushing bolt and it should be good to go.

Thanks CB, Other than the irrational panic buying, toilet roll hoarding and the inability of a large chunk of the general public to take any sort of notice of whats actually happening around them and just carrying on as normal then all is indeed well over here!.
An enforced holiday at home may be just the kick up the rear i need to get something done on my jeeps, i may even make some progress at some point but dont count on it!

How about a Cherokee D30? Have it narrowed to CJ width and use the CJ D30 knuckles.

It did cross my mind to use a Cherokee axle and just cut off all the brackets and weld on some perches but i never really thought about using CJ knuckles though.
Do the Cherokee D30s and the CJ D30s use the same size tube then?

I believe they do. I said knuckles but I think we were on the same page- you have to use the CJ inner “C” pieces to use the CJ knuckles.
I think BillaVista on Pirate built a hybrid XJ/CJ axle.

Yep. Here’s the link. He did it to use D44 outlets but the same basic steps apply.

Wow that is quite a write up and looking at that i think the old CJ axle ends would work and the axle could be cut down to suit the CJ drive shafts keeping it all stock width and stock parts as well.
I would of seriously considered this a few months ago as XJ axles can be pickd up fairly easily but i think i am too deep in with the D300 and the expense and time it has already cost for me to do anything about it now.
Besides that i dont want the Jeep thinking it has beat me in its constant battle to stay off the road!

Slight update!.
Thought i had better drop the tub back on and check for any issues before finalising the engine and gearbox mounts.
Turns out there is masses of clearance and i dont even have the body mounts on it yet either so its going to get a bit more height yet.20200418_124216.jpg20200418_124224.jpg
