Yeah, tried heat the ends too with no luck. I like this cloth tape and can handle heat in engine bay
Cloth Tape from Amazon
Is that stuff anything like the Coroplast? I’ve had great luck with it too but I find you need to put a dab of CA glue at the end or it pulls up.

I ordered one of the rolls you linked to try.

I have not used Coroplast to compare. I have not had to glue end as the product has an adhesive like regular electric tape.

It’s been a bit since I’ve done an update. Reason? I’ve not accomplished much in the last month. We had our first frost and that led to the yearly “ Prepare for winter” chaotic workload. Building a hay shed for 12 tons, a run in shelter, the annual local auto parts swap meet, and a cooling system upgrade for the Cherokee are all on the list. The swap meet went well, the Cherokee is almost finished, the hay shed is half way there, and the run in shelter is in the planning stages.

So, once that’s all finished I’ll be back on the Scrambler. My thought of getting it done by Nov 1 is not going to happen, so I might as well take my time.

Today was on of those outstanding days however- I just have to share. Started with my yearly check-up. All’s well there, but I’ll be fully relieved when the blood test results come back. From there Carol and I went to Bend and stopped by a car dealership. They had a really nice Subaru Outback with a lift and BFG KO2’s, but it had so much road noise on the test drive we passed. Carol has been wanting a smaller car with better fuel economy. Well, I dodged that bullet- I guess I really need to get the Cherokee fixed. It’s getting a new radiator, flow cooler water pump, hoses, and a trans cooler. Eric- you came close to scoring but I got lucky at the last minute.

Then we stopped by a new gun shop, and a like new Ruger Blackhawk in .357 called my name. I pick it up tomorrow. While I was making the decision on the Blackhawk I missed my bid on a Super Blackhawk .44 on gunbroker, but I think I’ve found a mint 3 screw Super from 1968 that will more than make up for it.

After that, we headed home and I spent an hour or so plowing the horse area, and making points with Carol. I told her after that hard work 😉she owes me a beer and dinner. We headed to one of the local breweries and had a couple beers and some food. There was a Beatles cover band- her favorite. It was nice to see her cut loose and enjoy.

So, hope I haven’t bored you all. It was a good day, and I can’t wait to get all the chores wrapped up and start making more progress on the Scrambler!

Friend of yours Randy?

Wow! Never seen that one before! It blows my mind how many local Scramblers are around here!

This one is next level- custom soft top, supercharged LS, interesting suspension work. Wow. Just wow.

You are viewing a 1982 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler with some serious custom modifications. This Scrambler has undergone a complete nut and bolt tear down and built back up to what you see today. It has only 3100 miles on it since the build and began with a very straight and rust free body and chassis with only 136000 miles on it.

This CJ-8 Scrambler Rock Crawler is a beast, powered by a 5.3 LS Chevrolet engine with a PowerDyne Supercharger. Behind the engine is a MV4500 5-Speed manual transmission and a Dual stick NP205 2-speed transfer case, the front and rear differentials are Dayna 60 lockers with 4.10 gearing.

Other key components of the build are; Custom heavy duty front bumper with winch mount, Halo LED headlamps, LED turn signals, Rhino lined fender flares, LED running lights, Aluminum radiator, Derale electric cooling fan, H/D alternator, Power steering, Serpentine belt system, Electronic ignition, Custom ceramic coated headers, Custom dual exhaust, Heavy duty front suspension, Front sway bar, PSC steering stabilizer, Fox 2.0 Performance Series front and rear shocks shocks, Deaver springs, Cross drilled and slotted brake rotors, Hydraulic clutch, Custom rocker steps, Tinted glass, Louvered hood, Fold down windshield, Custom black soft top, Custom wiring, Speed Hut GPS speedometer with tach/fuel/temp gauges, Speed Hut boost and oil pressure gauges, Custom 5 switch dash panel, Tilt steering column, Kenwood stereo system, Dual USB ports, Master Craft Safety Baja RS upholstered front and rear seats with Sparco 4-point seat harnesses, Custom multi point roll cage, Raceline black 17” simulated bead lock alloy wheels, Open Country 35x12.50R17 tires, Walker Driveline driveshafts, Mini tubed, 37 gallon fuel tank, JCR rear bumper and carrier. All finished off in Bright Blue Metallic paint.

This 1982 Jeep CJ-8 Scrambler runs drives as good as it looks.BDC941E9-277E-4039-A8D3-12E0AFC392A8.jpeg

I love the top. It's similar to what i have planned eventually with my bikini top. That thing is really amazing.

I know we have a small pleasure marine industry but i really wonder if there is anyone around that would make something like that. Around here is pretty much oil marine industry. Florida is a whole other animal.

I was in Bend today and had planned to check it out, but I ran out of time. I’m guessing it might be there awhile.

That top is very interesting. It's definitely custom to the roll cage. Doesn't look like it folds but it appears to fit well.

I'd love a few pics of the top please if you do see it Randy. The shop that made mine has made another for a friend of mine in Colorado. I plan on having them make another in tan to match my seats, then I'll put zips around it to attach the sides. I doubt I'll use the sides much but I want to have them just in case. I have not had a top since it's been in Florida.

If I make it out there before it sells I’ll take a bunch of pics. Bend is only 20 minutes away but it seems like it’s on the other side of the state.

Wow, that is crazy, I don't understand why anyone would think you'd need to supercharge that engine in a Scrambler

Randy, y'all just need to turn up the stereo in that Subaru, you know how that works with road noise! Come on man!

OK
It's okay. With that air cleaner where it is, and no sign of an intercooler, you couldn't stay in it long before it starts pinging it's head off........unless it's running E85.
