Meet Red, my 81 Restomod Build

We thought it was a great deal. Still learning the ins and outs of the system.

Any progress?
Well….to be honest no. I’ve been kept more than busy for the past couple years by what seems to be never ending house and horse projects. Through it all I’ve developed some physical issues…right now my knee is so bad I can’t even climb into it. Kneeling- well that’s not possible, period. There’s more but I won’t get into it… There is a local car show here in the end of June, and I’m going to try and see if I can make something happen. Project burnout is real…I’m wishing I had just left it stock, I could probably get into it and it would definitely be driveable by now!

Man, that's too bad... it's tough to get motivated for things you want to do, when there are so many things you have to do.

Hang in there, Randy. Scrambler time will come back around.

I hope you and the little woman can heal up and get moving again. I know now that im collecting SS, time is also catching up to me.

Randy we all fall into slumps. I have not been very motivated myself lately. When i bought my parents house a gew years ago, i went from a descent sized barn to a small one. There is no room to actually get busy on any a large project as most are exactly that. But hoping to add onto the existing house single garage and making it big enough for a single lift. But right there is what your kinda talking about. Thats creating another life project.

Sorry about the slow reply. Your project sounds great!

I used a BeCool LS swap radiator. Honestly, I only gained a small percentage of additional core area, but the modifications to the grille and then the snowball effect of headlamp clearance etc. along with the need for a slight body lift to clear the frame rails left me thinking it was not the wisest decision. The fan is a Lincoln MKVII unit trimmed to fit. It’s a powerful 2 speed fan- but very deep and there was a water pump swap and belt routing reconfiguration needed to get adequate clearance.

It’s still a ways off from being driveable so I don’t know if all the effort was worth it.

My last 5.3 swap used a Northern aluminum radiator and the stock LS truck fan with a shroud. It never gave me any issues.
Yep, I went VIntage Air....

and I did one of the Entropy Radiators, mainly to take care of the 6L80E.
