My east coast super shopper found 6 more wheels for me so far. Thanks Eric. Got them prepped and ready to cover. Covered a wheel in Sand color for a Wagoneer. A 1913 Overland arrived for me to work on. It's getting a new interior and top. That should slow down my Scrambler projects for...
The simple stuff. Spray some starting fluid in the carb and try it. If you have spark at the plugs, then if the starter is good it should start. If it starts and doesn't keep running after a few tries, then you aren't getting fuel.
A CJ7 gentleman is moving soon and he made me a deal. He wanted to get rid of all his leftover Jeep parts. So we traded. He got a restored black leather covered steering wheel and a couple hundred bucks. I got 3 steering wheels, a pair of Laredo front seats, 3 6-cyl-with-power-brakes air...
Glad he was able to help you. Parts from So Cal are usually solid with little rust. I enjoyed visiting Albert's warehouse and seeing all the Jeep parts lined up. What does he charge for a bulkhead now?
I used a woodworkers vise to hold it near the point of the twist. Then I put a block of wood on the inside of the molding and another piece of wood on the outside and clamped them to the molding with a bar clamp. The bar clamp allowed me to get the leverage needed to un-twist the molding. Some...
Knocked the old T-bolts out of the rocker moldings and straightened them out. Bought these off of Ebay years ago. Glad I got them when they were cheap. Cleaned them up and the original anodizing wasn't too bad for its age. Used the new elevator bolts and bolted them on. Temp was up a little...
Rocker molding were a little twisted and bent. Got them straighten out fairly well. Had a chance to use the elevator bolts to mount them. Cut spacers from an old fuel line and they worked out well. McMaster-Carr has them if anyone needs them.
Depends on the finish you want. I would sand them and the edges and then finish them with Rust-O=Leum black texture paint. If you want a satin or semi-gloss finish, then spend more time prepping them.
One of the guys on here told me how he did dual exhaust. He moved the 15 gal tank over to the center so the tail pipes could go on each side of it. I liked that idea so that is what I've done on the two Scramblers with 304s that I'm building now. Grabbed a picture just before backing the...
You can get the AMC interior low gloss SEM color coat in Garnet from TCP Global in San Diego, CA 858 909-2110 to spray a dash pad, console, door pulls or whatever. If you need a Garnet leather covered steering wheel or grab bar or console pad, I can help with that.
Got to fit the front fenders and grill. Then removed the driver fender until I get steering, clutch linkage, and brake lines in place. Holidays and whacking my back slowed me down on this. Back to slow progress.
Picked up more castings today. Five sets of Scrambler type end caps, Two sets of 77-79 step bumper end caps, and one pair of early side steps. All drilled and tapped and ready to go or for the steps to be welded. One step is on my hi-dollar jig and ready to go to the welder. The early end caps...
