Question 41:
Like everthing on my Scramber, the windsheild frame has a couple of pin holes.
Should I look at used windsheild frames over new reproduction? My thinking is used ones may look ok but in a year or two........ Are the reproduction windsheild frames correct? Suggested vendors
The metal on the OEM ones are thicker than the aftermarket ones. Also, the bolt locations for the hinges can be off and where the glass itself goes can also be the wrong size. I ran into all of this on mine. If you get an aftermarket one make sure you test fit it and have a glass shop give you the ok before you paint it. The issue I had is the space where the cowl gasket goes was way too tight.

Isn't that just the beginning of more pin holes?
Never been rusted is nice, but not common. Once you fix the pin hole areas, treat the inside like you would a frame. Eastwood has a spray with a long nozzle for that purpose. Another way is to tape off all holes but one, pour rust-o-leum (or your choice) paint in the frame, tape up that last hole, and move the windshield frame around so the inside is completely covered. I wish the last two windshield frames I repaired would have only had a few pin holes.

I am in the same boat with one of my jeeps, except I never got a windshield with it, so I would love to know the general consensus. I think I know what the answer is, but would love independent opinions.

Question 42:
I want to order a set of quality stainless steel hardware for my dash panel to body.
I went on line but I was not convinced on how many, or size to order.
I also will need some for steering column, which I'm sure I can get at local hardware store.
Any suggestions?

I would try Totally Stainless out of Pennsylvania

I don't know what to order, I'm building the project from used parts gathered. Since I did not take apart I have no old parts to compare to.
Maybe a description of bolt/screw, then I could order.

Dash panel bolts are Torx head with pilot tip and washer head 1/4"-20 x 3/4"

Totally stainless has kits already made up for different parts of the Jeep or kits for the entire Jeep

Thanks, that's the information I needed.
Can someone state the total amount needed for dash panel and pad replacement?

Question 43:
Ready to buy rear bumper for the scrambler.
Are CJ7 and CJ8 bumper mounts the same?

All of the bumpers listed are for the CJ7. They don't advertise as CJ8. Only a few advertisements show for both models

I have a bumper (Runck) from a CJ5 on mine, so I would assume the mounting holes are the same
