Question 44:
Removing the main body from the frame of my CJ8
On the firewall there is the wiring junction, fuse block.
I want to seperate wiring so I can remove body from frame.
I have new wiring to install later so all wiring will be removed.
I still would like to preserve the old wiring,.

How do you remove easily with least amount of damage?
From firewall side
From interior side

It’s held on the firewall with one bolt through the middle. Undo that bolt and it comes apart. Disconnect everything in the engine and pull it.

On the inside there are bolts into the firewall to remove the interior block.

Question 45:
Do they make brackets that you attach to rear bumper mounts on a CJ8, that enables the mounting of standard CJ8 front bumper to rear?

Overlander are all that way. Front bumper on the rear with ‘82 CJ-7 limited rubber end caps.

If anyone has a lead on those end caps, I am in need of a set.

I have made the larger CJ front end caps out of aluminum that were originally steel (and still can make). Didn't get enough interest on here for making the limited end caps out of aluminum. Not that many Limiteds out there needing end caps I guess.

I have a set of your larger aluminum caps. There is enough difference to make it obviously different.

Question 47:
Since I have rear hitch I feel is strong enough.. to use for snatching, pulling, being towed out of muck.

I was looking for a ring to go into my 2" receiver, I've read using the ball is a no no.
Hopeing to find a ring that has towe balls also, no luck. I did find one with a hook.

Any suggestions?

If you have a 2” receiver, I would suggest one of these. Many manufacturers and all over Amazon.IMG_7139.jpeg

Thanks for responses, the TOPTOW would save me from carrying around extra parts. I just don't like the hook, seems line could slip off easily.

Most likely I will get the receiver hitchlink style and leave it inserted in receiver, stow a 3 sided trailer ball set in bag with recovery items

Here is the one I use, if I am not wrapping a soft shackle around an axle which is my first choice for winch point:

technically, a receiver hitch is not rated for "recovery". If you're tugging to extract someone, odds are you are exceeding the rated capacity of the hitch pin / receiver. I know we all do it, just be aware.
