1983 Scrambler resto

Polarfire and Spankrs, no problems with the stickers. Only issue was the pieced section on the hood. Fitment fine so far but I have to add the last 2 pieces to the front fenders from the body stripe forward. That's the biggest seam. It appears to line up fine based on the way I mounted the bottom stripe. Texture is good-- appears almost hand-painted. No rips or tears. There's a slight learning curve to installing them.

Thought I ordered tires and wheels 13 days ago. Turns out, unbeknownst to me, the tire won't be here til March-- Goodyear MTR with kevlar. Wont wait. Not happy, so I ordered ProComp Extreme mud terrains on the ProComp chrome wheels, model number 6001. Supposedly the tires are similar to the Goodyear. Second time I've ordered from this company and they have neglected to tell me the goods aren't available till after I have paid for them...even tho I specifically asked when they would be delivered and they promised a certain date. They offered me a $50 gift certificate for their error.........Not real happy.
 
What size tire did you go with? I can't wait to see some pics after you get the rest of you stripes on. It's looking good!

Is there a reason that you chose Phoenix Graphics instead of Austin Jeeps? Just curious...
 
Bobbysjeep; ordered 30565r17. No reason I bought the Phoenix Graphics kit; I assumed that everyone (Austin Jeeps, etc) got graphics from Phoeniz and resold them. Prices seem same. Need to remove flares and side markers and sand and buff front fenders. Will do this week, then install front graphics on front fneders and rolll it out for pics. Tire and wheels (allegedly) due here Thrusday or Friday for install. :thumbsup:

Removed the front flares and light to sand the fenders (hasn't been done yet). Then apply sticker to front fenders and they will be finished.

Nothing in the plans t7464jb. Wifey won't allow it; I don't have the time/motivation to do another right now. But if I did, it'd likely be a 7 or something for the woods....... Will enjoy this one and the 5.

How's the resto coming--didn't you take the front clip off with the boys? Let us know.

Sanded and buffed the front fenders today and installed the last 2 stickers on them. Will remove the backing paper tomorrow and take pics with the CJ5. Need to remove the trans cover and paint it and the vent on the cowl, along with a couple of areas to 'fix'.

Spent the evening hunting in central Florida. Trying to get a particular 8 point we've been watching. 58 degrees. Sat til late. Just got home. Life is good. :D
 
You know, I think about my 8 project and say, lets build it into a wheeler, then I see this!!!! I would proudly drive that all summer, evey summer without ever wanting to hit the dirt with it.
 
Thanks Kane. If we don't go offroad, I will just drive it and enjoy it. But I'm looking forward to trying out the tires.

Cleaned and painted the plastic piece in the passenger wheelwell covering the fuel hoses. Found correct plastic 'pins' and installed it. The pic is not the best but you get the idea.

Installed the drivers flair and light. Added last stripe to front fenders. Need to repaint part of the passenger fender, then reinstall the flair. Also added a couple of pics of the CJ5 we did three years ago (someone here asked to see it months ago). The 5 is higher. I'm thinking the 8 may need an inch or 2 lift. We'll drive it awhile and decide.

Few things to do; need to have riv nuts installed between the windshield frame and the rollbar, paint a few things, got a raw fuel smell from tank area (nothing dripping; think its likely a plug in the top of the tank leaking a little), etc. Looking forward to rolling up the sides or removing the top; it'll have a completely different look then. :)

Great looking Scrambler! The only thing I would change is the wheels, personally I like a more original look but that is just my opinion. You've done a very nice, high quality build! :cheers:
 
I really like the paint color and strip combo you picked! Especially with that top and your interior color! Nicely done! :thumbsup:
