With all of the officer elections this year and all that is being done this post is a little late. We need Volunteers to organize this years event. With all that the SOA requires at this point and time the officers do not have the time to organize and get the SOA stuff in order at this point and time. So we need to get some people that want to help together and get this kicked off.

Positions that need to be filled are:

Chairman
Commitee people
This will consist of people to do the following: Solicit Raffle Prizes, Event Fliers, Trail Selection, Jeep Classification and so on.

So i hope that some of you guys will step up and help us out with putting on this event and make it better than last years event.

Thanks
Scott Mine

Scott -

I'm planning to help with trail selection and Jeep classification. This won't be done until a month or so prior to the event, but we can all rest assured that Windrock has something for everyone - stock to wild. So depending on the number of registrants and their ride selections, we can decide on the trails and vehicle ratings.

I'll be attending Southern 4wd's Trailfest(www.sfwda.ordg) at Windrock in May, and I'll see about soliciting help from other local CJ8ers. I should be able to round up a trail guide or 2 for us as well(may not be Scramblers).

I'm located about 2.5 hours west of Windrock, but I travel to the area a couple of times a month for work. I know one of the local 4wd shops well, Jims Offroad, and they stock parts for axles, transmissions, engines, etc. I'll be sure everyone attending knows where they are located as it's the closest 4wd shop.

BTW - what's a 1 Link rear coil suspension? Sounds like you need a few more links!

Scott,

I am fairly good at asking people for donations. Having raised over $25,000 for five long distance bike rides that I have done. I can be persistant when it comes to getting what I want.

Do you have a list of vendors you wish to hit up for this? Or is it a search and find and see what we can get kind of cold call thing the volunteer has to do?

I may not have a lot of time but since I work from home, it makes it easier for me to make calls and emails. I just don't have room to store any items that might be donated and mailed.

Let me know?

Andy

sobrbear, I have a vendor list I put together from when I did this at the first one. I've provided it as a basis for the next person to start with and I'm happy to provide it again here. However, I'd hope that there's a better, longer list out there that's more up-to-date by now.

Who coordinated the raffle prizes at Moab?

I'll volunteer on the event flyer and I think I'm already comitted to do the t-shirt design (well, I'll get my designer friend to anyway ;)). Scott, let me know if that's good for you.

Event committee

Man this is a great response.

If you guys PM me your e-mails i will send you a spreadsheet of what i did last year which has all of the vendors and alot of what we did. If it will help any.

We just need a ring leader (Chairman) Anyone want to step up for that?

Unfortunately, I can't be the chairman. With my recent purchases, if I don't get some serious work done on the house, my wife is going to kill me.

It's been a while but I've ridden at Windrock several times and plan on making at least one trip befor the event. Also, I always find myself at the front or rear of the group anyhow so I might as well take advantage of all the training and offer to be a trail leader or gunner for a moderate group.

Stephanie and I will also be glad to handle the flier and poster. Not the best when it comes to graphics and no special programs, but can do a good job with what I have available.

We can also probably help out in a few other ways as things need to be done.

Kohldad - The event Flyer and whatever else you can do will be a great help.

Everyone that wants to help out please PM me with your e-mail addy and i will get everyone together and you guys can work as a team to get this done. . Great Guys Thanks alot.

Photographer Needed?

Ya'll want a photographer for the event?

Here is a big sample of what I do.

Some more pics from Windrock - Not all of those pics are mine as they got mixed in with Brads back before I was doing the web duties.

I'm kind of our club's designated photographer. (Rocket City Rock Crawlers in Huntsville, AL) My Scrambler won't be ready for wheeling by the time of the event but I'd love to still come and possibly help out.

This might work out well. The other officers and I will discuss at our next meeting.

Yeah Jake,
I am gonna say yeah we need a photographer for this event. That would be AWESOME in my mind. PM me you e-mail addy and i will get you in touch with the rest of the committee and you can work with them on this.

If you are wanting to participate in the Event then please PM me you e-mail addy and will get you with the guys that are on the committee now.

Thanks

Thanks guys

Thanks. If you look at the next pictures in the series, I had to move fast. When he hit the ground - something grabbed and he was aimed right at me! I did some serious foot work that day scramblin' up and down the mountain. Awesome event to watch and or compete in. Last Saturday of August this year. More info on last summer's event including a video at the bottom of the page can be seen here.

Scott, PM headed your way. I'm also the Sponsorships Coordinator for our King of the Hill competition and may have some contacts through that.

Despite my earlier comments, Scott was able to twist my arm enough over the last few days to con me into taking the Chairman position (where's that arm twisting smiley?). I've been looking over the data from last year's Moab event plus re-reading tons of emails and threads so I have a slight understanding of how much more work needs to be done to pull this off. After discussion with the SOA officer's this weekend, I'm sure I'll regret my decision.

For those that have volunteered, if you do not receive an email or pm from me by Monday, please speak up again here or pm me. For those that haven't volunteered, please do so as we still need lots of help.

I'm trying to have the registration forms available by April 1, but a lot of details have to fall in place first.

Excellent, way to step up to the plate Eric. Nationals will be in good hands.

Eric,

Thanks for nutting, I mean stepping up.

Do not hesitate to call me as whilst we probably didn't do as good of a job the first 2 years Mark and his group did, we have some insight on things, such as where to get the t shirts, etc.

We made a field trip a couple weeks ago up there and bought a Coal Creek map. I will be happy to send it to you if you would like.

Good, that means when this year isn't as good as Moab, it still may not be the worst one yet. :D But at least I will finally make one!

I've been there a few years ago so know some of the trails plus have a nice map. I also found a detailed GPS track of all the trails which is an extra plus.

Thanks for nutting, I mean stepping up.
Hey, at least my wife is letting me go on a wheeling trip, umm mean scouting trip, on Mar 9th weekend. :D

we have some insight on things, such as where to get the t shirts, etc.
Please send any information you think would be helpful.

Sobrbear-

This is about as far off topic as I can get, but I was curious about your "long distance bike rides". I spent 5 years with a touring company and always like to hear where others have ridden. I had the privelege of riding several 7 week (coast to coast) trips, plus a bunch of one to four week trips. Id love to hear a little about your adventures.

THanks
Scott
